This is worth a shot... my 03 Evo's paint has been in bad shape for quite some time now. It's definitely worth pursuing, I'm going to do my best to get this under warranty. My quest begins at the end of the week, I'll keep everyone updated.

Yea he is going to rip it up from the service area to the paint shop let me tell ya. Then he is going to drive all of a few feet from his prep station to the booth,(not to meantion how fast you can get up to in a shop BTW) then to the detail area to buff it, the it goes into the hands of the detailers. As a "paint guy"(and one that has worked in a few dealerships) getting your paint warrantied should not be a problem. With all the oxidation and peeling issues I have heard about, Mistu should cover these issues, even if their dealership does not have a body shop on site. But it would most likely be an easier task to get them to do it IF they did have a bodyshop. I suggest taking it over the service mangers head if one shop denies your claim. IMO and speaking as a painter NO CAR should have paint failure under 5 years. And since evo's were not here until 03??? Well they should warranty it no questions asked. But I do know some will not. As far as chips go??? No one is going to warranty that, but peeling clear and oxidating CF spoilers?? Should be no problem at all. Another thing is that since its warranty work(warranty jobs pay roughly about half as much as normal work for the tech spraying your car) keep a close eye on the finished product to make sure they do it right. ALL PAINTERS who work at a dealership cringe when they look at a repair order and see WARRANTY. Good luck all

Josh

Thats true. the tech actually gets paid 3/4 of what a 'customer paid' job would be in reality. I know this for fact (my dad owned Lighthouse Point Mitsubishi in pompano, Fl)

A question regarding warranty

I bought an extended warranty from the dealer i bought my car from. My cars has 37k on it.

Am i still covered from mitsubishi, as far as paint goes because my front bumper is losing its clearcoat.

Thanks in advance!

You'd have to look at the terms of the extended warranty. They are contracted out, and I have no idea what kind of coverage you have.

Deluxe package by Qualitygaurd if that helps

I dont think paint is covered in that plan, thats why i was wondering if mitsubishi will still honor their paint warranty, even though i have a third party extended warranty

It would have been a good idea to put the paint work in to the deal when you were buying.

I doubt they will do anything for you now.

all I can say is go and ask. at 37k you're out of the factory warranty; I'd read the terms of the 3rd party or call them for feedback.

off the cuff I'd say it's not covered.

Why would Mitsubishi honor a warranty that is expired?
