random evo 9 motor question

Hey guys i have an evo 8 mr. This may be a silly question but i have a spare evo 9 mivec motor haha.... Anyways i have it incase my motor goes kaboom. First question, would that be a direct swap? I know they are basically the same other than the mivec. The spare motor doesn't have the turbo. is an ECU swap required or anything IF and hopefully never that i have to change it out? Second question, is there anything off that 9 motor that i can put on the 8 motor to up the performance threshold? Are the injectors or anything bigger?? Thanks in advance.

Ecu will def have to be swapped. The injectors are the same only other main difference I can think of is the ix turbo which is larger. That's really the only thing you could swap to gain power.

You'll need the IX ECU and engine wiring harness to run the evo 9 engine/mivec. You could use the block though as a spare if you wanted to keep it as an evo 8 engine.

Isnt there a mivec oil port in the block though that you'd have to block-off somehow?

Really? I thought it was a port on top of the block itself that flows down from the head. Do you happen to have a pic of it by chance? I just ask bc I also have a evo 9 block Im looking to build with an evo 8 head

I'm not sure about that. Check these threads out and you can see pictures of where the VIII block is being drilled out to accept the banjo fitting for the mivec oil feed. I thought that the oil pressure was produced from the block, and flows to the mivec oil sensor unit thing. Not sure about it flowing down from the head, I don't think that's right.
