That was a great segement.
I really cant wait untill the EVO IX comes out now, I definately have a feeling that the US is going to get electronic diff's, a 6 speed gearbox, and horsepower to match the STI

yah I hope they make the ACD an option so I can order the parts for one for my EVO VIII. Mitsubishi hella messed up leaving those electronics off the car, I've been saying that from day one. Now STi has advantage over the evo in that field, too bad it can't benifit from it.... Subaru's hahahahahahahahah
I'm not liking the 6-speeds too much, from what a subaru owner told me his trannys gearing was hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllaaa close ratio(exact quote was his 4th gear feels liek a WRX's 3rd gear). If the Evo's 6-speed is the same way i'll take my 5-speed. i use my car for drag strip/ street racing most of the time (ya i know it wasn't designed for this type of racing, oh well). Don't see where a 6-speed would benifit me. But who knows that was a subaru tranny, hopefully the mitsu tranny will be better.

EVO vs STI video
can anyone let me upload this video to share it with everyone?
it's about 35mb
STI vs EVO on TOPGEARS.COM
EVO beats STI hard on the track, and even 0.1 sec faster than the Lamborghini Murcielago!

Here are the parts I added to my WRX to make the STI conversion :
STi engine - with AVCS and wiring harness - VF30 turbo - and STI exhaust
STI injectors and JDM V-8 Ecu
STI 6 spd with suretrack f Diff - drive shaft - half shafts Rear diff
STI flywheel and clutch
STI shifter
STI streering rack, f & R stuts and srprings suspension busings sway bars and wheel hubs
STI rear breaks and prodrive F breaks
STI power steering pump and pwoer sterring fluid
STI motor tranny and body mounts and busihhings
STI lateral links - F lower control arms and rear laterl links
the reality is that my car was identical to a real STI in every manner except the VIN number
On top of that - after i drove the stock STI vf30 set up for a week - then I added custom fuel suply - rails - bigger injectors - cutcom upipe - garret GT30 turbo and FMIC set up - - - results 412 wheel HP daily driver that goes 124 mph in the 1.4 on street tires baby shifting
You can talk all the stupid stuff you want - - the fact is you are just a two bit arm chair quarter back punk - - why don't you actually go out and do something with your hands and then you can tell me all about your fast car instead of telling me what my car was or is - - no matter what my car is - i am sure it can beat yours

DCCD?
boxer engines do kinda suck. Even though have a very low center of gravity, and are very balanced, the only good thing I like about them is the sound. I dont even like the torque they produce. Coming from a WRX, I do know what Im talking about.
The sound too, is something to fall in love with. This is ONLY due to the un-equal length header design. Put an equal length header on, and the car sounds like any other 4-banger...

I've been thinking of buying the evo but also considered the sti... my findings about the sti just killed it for me. The sti's tranny is weak. There are two guys already getting theirs service here for busted 3rd and 2nd gears. Seems they just pushed that tranny to far. Then i found out it is the same tranny in regular wrx and that there is no strengthening added for the extra power. Hell the regular wrx guys already know the tranny cant take 350hp. Guess it barely handles 300. Also have you test drove one... it's a dog compared to the evo. I've seen this proven at the track as well. Then the dealers are marking them up higher than the dealers of the evo's. Suburu just lost me with to much stupid manufacturing and marketing. Then the stereo issue?? What the hell is that all about. No stereo?? WTF. I know i'm going to get the evo but i'm waiting for prices to fall and parts to be made. There are already many out there. By next year there should be more and who knows... next years evo may be better than this years... after all it was its first year here. I'll wait and see but the STI is no longer a consideration for me. My .02

A guys ... all this hoopla bout' the sti doesn't change the fact that it is butt-fugly!
