Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]

Kinda funny though...how they tried to reach the weight of the Evo. The Sti doesn't include stereo, speakers, or floormats. All of which will be added by most owners....making the Sti actually around 3300 lbs. Not that 50lbs will make a ton of difference. I think Subaru thought it would look bad if the Sti came weighing more than the Evo. I remember everyone..especially Subaru people saying the Evo was overweight compared to j-spec......

As I recall, the U.S. STi's official advertised curb weight was only announced within the last few weeks. It seems more than mere coincidence that it is identical to the U.S. Evo's. It's as if, from Subaru's point of view, Mitsubishi had hung a bulls-eye on the U.S. Evo for Subaru to shoot at with the U.S. STi.
And again I'd like to emphasize the thrust of my original post in this thread, that comparisons of overseas versions are meaningless for U.S. drivers.

YOU may find that funny, but an ENTHUSIAST will consider it to be an intelligent move on Subaru's part. For me personally, not having a stereo means less weight AND less money that can be spent on a set of Hoosiers instead.

There are very few people that would be inclined to buy a car with no a/c and stereo just to save 100lbs though. I personally like light weight, but for 50lbs I will listen to my radio as I drive to work, and on hot days I will turn on the A/C vs sweating my ***** off.
I would guess about 1% of the people will actually drive a car with no a/c and no stereo.

Instead of deleting the necessary hardware like 3 LSDs, 6-sp, etc, Subaru decides to delete non-performance garbage like the stereo.

Because the new STI owners will stop "bench racing" and start driving and quit bothering us!
The STI is gonna be awesome and their speculation will turn to AMG's and finally an understanding of what EVO owners have been talking about. FUN!!!
I look forward to owner feedback. They are both great cars and there should not be this tit for tat gamesmanship.
As long as STI owners are comfy with the fact that my EVO will be quicker for less money than a stock STI .... then OK.

I agree! I'm sick of beating up on s2000's. Competition is what it's all about, no?
