I think Subaru thought it would look bad if the Sti came weighing more than the Evo. I remember everyone..especially Subaru people saying the Evo was overweight compared to j-spec......
Does the EVO have front LSD, 6spd and active center diff? What happens if you add those to the EVO?

Well, is the weight of a big wing included in the Evo's advertised curb weight, as it is for the STi?

As I recall, the U.S. STi's official advertised curb weight was only announced within the last few weeks. It seems more than mere coincidence that it is identical to the U.S. Evo's. It's as if, from Subaru's point of view, Mitsubishi had hung a bulls-eye on the U.S. Evo for Subaru to shoot at with the U.S. STi.

And again I'd like to emphasize the thrust of my original post in this thread, that comparisons of overseas versions are meaningless for U.S. drivers.

Instead of deleting the necessary hardware like 3 LSDs, 6-sp, etc, Subaru decides to delete non-performance garbage like the stereo.

YOU may find that funny, but an ENTHUSIAST will consider it to be an intelligent move on Subaru's part. For me personally, not having a stereo means less weight AND less money that can be spent on a set of Hoosiers instead.

There are very few people that would be inclined to buy a car with no a/c and stereo just to save 100lbs though. I personally like light weight, but for 50lbs I will listen to my radio as I drive to work, and on hot days I will turn on the A/C vs sweating my ***** off.

I would guess about 1% of the people will actually drive a car with no a/c and no stereo.

We know the STI has semi automatic climate control which includes AC and is a very nice feature. The mis-information comes from the same place that stuff like all EVO's have just 20hp more than a stock WRX.

Nobody will be happier to see the STI get here than EVO owners!

Because it's a great addition to the U.S. market and it's in the same rally-bred class. What do you think we are going to be scared of it? Don't think so! I got some-tin for it already But it's all in good fun ... and the same feeling when I pull up next to a WRX ... I'm not thinking that I have more HP because some of them are modded to all hell ... nahhhhh I'm thinking one BIG FREEKIN HAPPY FAM-DAMILY. OH AND THEN I blow their frickin doors off

Hi,

Because the new STI owners will stop "bench racing" and start driving and quit bothering us! The STI is gonna be awesome and their speculation will turn to AMG's and finally an understanding of what EVO owners have been talking about.

FUN!!!

I look forward to owner feedback. They are both great cars and there should not be this tit for tat gamesmanship. As long as STI owners are comfy with the fact that my EVO will be quicker for less money than a stock STI .... then OK.

I agree! I'm sick of beating up on s2000's. Competition is what it's all about, no?
