Just installed the TB seals and new TB gasket from Mach V this past weekend. Everything worked great with the how-to, except that getting the seals seated properly in the TB was a pain in the rear. Not sure if the seals from Works fit better, just my experience with the ones I ordered.

I boost leak tested my car yesterday and I had a leak at the throttle body that went away if I applied sideways pressure to the part of the throttle body that the throttle cable attaches to -- the big black part that rotates on the outside of the throttle body. Does this sound like a throttle body seal problem? When I cracked open the throttle blades, the noise got much quieter. It seems like the leak wouldn't be a big deal if it's only there with the throttle closed?

Yes, it seems to be the seals of the TB. In addition to the leak, my throttle was not smooth, it was sticking at idle. You should check that as well.

got the parts and did the install this past weekend. leak free and loving it. my logs are finally looking proper now and this in conjunction with my JDM map is a nice touch.

fyi - im sure its mention in the above mess of pages that i originally searched through, but i thought it wouldn't hurt to mention again for others

the mach V TB shaft gaskets will work but are a PIA to get in. they were for me anyway. Theres another place that offers a different seal that is black not green. those might fit better.

Thanks again for all the info! I would have never figured out what this leak was without this thread.

I've installed the Mach V seals as well. I had no problem that I can remember when I did it.
I think I used a screw driver to drive the seal into the bore and a hammer to press the seal in (no force required with the hammer, be gentle )

Anyway, After almost 2 years, the TB is still leak free. It sees 22psi everyday.

I have a leak and just got the Works seals to install. I just picked up the leak through a boost test though. What symptoms did you see in your logs?

Probably lean at idle and fluctuating fuel trims.

i personally seem to have high loads and low boost. I also might have had some leaks here and there. when i put the TB back on i just tested everything agian and tightened everything down till there was no leak anywhere. holding 21 22 psi.

After I had Chris at Mellon look at my logs, he was able to tell me I have a slight boost leak, I just ordered the Works Seal Kit and am going replace the seals to get the leak taken care of, I have 32k Miles on my Evo9 MR. Had to happen sometime I guess. hahaha.

I did a boost leak test today and my tb shaft is leaking badly won't even hold 5lbs. I only have 11,000 miles on the car and I think it has been leaking for a while. I have an appointment at the dealership to get it fixed under warranty(hopefully). I have a lot of mods but I'm hoping that it won't be a issue because I haven't done anything with the tb. Anyone else getting this done under warranty?

Here is a link to the SKF Chicago Rawhide 3930 part......

I had to print it out and bring it to the parts store for them to order it.

I tried to look a the WORKS site a few times with no luck? Are they still around?
