problem is, he doesn't fall within the affected units. So it really depends on the dealer and the service advisor you get. Walk up to the one that looks like the most chill person you see. One that's not an ***. I'm sure if you tell him you are experiencing the same problems and would like a reflash. They would have no problems flashing your car.

But if you get one that's **** about following proper procedure, good luck.

I went into get my car flash and its not really even a flash. all they do is ajust the idle by computer. So all this so called flash stuff is not even true. I talke to the tech and he told me what mitsubushi sent out to them.

when you guys are talking about the stalling from a low idle are you talking about when you try starting out slowly in first from the slow idle? or are you sitting at lights with it idling and it poops out on you without doing anything?

i've stalled twice but i thought it was me. in my car in the past i would slip the clutch out with minimal throttle just to move slowly. can't do that in this car. am i having the same issue?

where can i look up my VIN? they should just flash whoever wants it because it really is just software info and we'll all be on the same page.

I've had one of each - one time, I was pulling out of an intersection on a right turn and the car's rpms just before I took off started hesitating. As I'm about to take off, the engine didn't quite respond to the throttle and it just cut out on me and died. The other time, I was just sitting idle at a red light and noticed the idle rpms fluttering around 600 to ~800 and from 600 down to ~400. At the low points, the car felt as if it were about to cut out any second and sure enough, without any input from me, it did.

dek, you can find your VIN # on the lower driver's side portion of your front windshield (on the outside). There should be an etched # just below an "AIRBAG" etching. Alternatively, you should be able to find it printed out somewhere on your insurance slip (or just call your insurance company and have them tell you what it shows on your statement).

thanks i know where to find my VIN number. my question was: is there a listing of VINs from mitsu that they reported need to be reflashed? what is the TSB.

although you misunderstood me, thanks for being tactful when telling me where to find a VIN number.

Oh, sorry about that - yeah, I misinterpreted that.

I believe it was posted in another thread regarding factory reflashes here on EvoM, I just don't happen to have the particular thread link at the moment. The TSB # is 08-13-006, and I believe the affected VIN #'s are those with the last 5 digits below ~49000.

Post factory reflash, my car has had the idle fluctuation problem once. It also still hesitates a bit in the upper RPM range, but it does run better than before. fortunately never stalled out pre or post reflash.

I wonder what we can do about this issue. Although my car runs better than before, it's still not perfect. Are we just going to have to deal with cars that hesitate and stall out from time to time?????

No, they will keep making a reflash if the problem persists and updating it..

As far as if you want a great powerband, get a tune!

Alright, So I just got back from the dealer. They decieded the best thing to do was re-reflash the car and see if the computer just wasn't flashed properly the first time. 2.5 hrs later they tell me my car is ready and hopefully this fixed the problem. So I walk out to my car in the parking lot, start her up and what do you know the thing stalls right there! again! Needless to say mitsu was bewildered and the tech said, he would call mitsu and do some research and give me a call. It seems like my car is an isolated problem with this as I have'nt seen anyone else(post reflash) that has had their car stall on them yet.

Rests about 750 which seems like the norm for the X. It may have been previously tuned at the dealer, but I'll have to cal and find out. I noticed the car runs very rich. Gas milage sucks but its probably becuase it's still new.
I got the car re-flashed and I dont really notice a difference anywhere. This leads me to think when I got the car it had already been flashed. I never expierienced any problems that people were complaining about. I am blessed that my service dealer has an evo specialist mechanic whose not only a mitsu mechanic but works at a well-known local performance shop. Another reason which makes me think that all the X's on their lot had been flashed.

Ecutek just released a lot of additional tuneable parameters. As more come out I will be able to tune out the rough idle issue on the oem roms.

That would be Tom at CC Mitsubishi i believe? Me and my friend were the first ones that got ours flashed there. The difference was a smoother power band and felt better at the top rpm range. It has almost been a month since then, so they could have flashed their X's on the lot.
