Well today I think I finally figured it out... no grind even with low temps (20F). It has to do with the rev hang... on the one two shift just pull into neutral and WAIT...wait... wait for it.... then it will drop right into second... same with third but it's not as bad. We really need to disable this stupid rev hang... rev matching and even just regular shifting is very hard considering how light the oem flywheel is.

I would think that rev hang actually happens because of a heavy factory flywheel... More rotating mass takes longer to stop...

Yeah, seems like it'd be from a heavier flywheel. I don't drive a manual, but I did test out the Evo X GSR. It took a while for the revs to go back to idle.

This maybe a dumb question, but does the fact that the stock tune makes the engine run richer than it should.. affect the revs going back down to idle? Like make it slower, 'cause when I hear running richer.. I'm thinking more fuel is being added to the compression ratio??? Maybe I need a lesson on what running rich means too, lol.

The oem flywheel is extremely lightweight. Those who have put in aftermarket flywheels still report the rev hang does not change. This is a programmed event, I know the new civic si has the exact same problem which cobb recently fixed through accessport.

I am going to try to find a correlation between the shifter play that all Evo X cars seem to have and the notchy shifting...

Shep stated my Tranny shifted great on the bench, something's gotta be up with the shifter....

What helps in the morning to reverse is pop it in 2nd then 3rd then reverse. Goes in smooth. But popping in to 2nd rough.

I put Motul Gear 300 in my car at 1000 miles but it didn't really help much at all. The best thing I've done to improve the shifting was adding a weighted shift knob.
