The official Evo X notchy/grinding transmission thread
ok, tried MOTYLGEAR 75w-90.
2nd gear got much much better. it was a very noticeable improvement.
3rd gear got a little better. you can still feel it a bit when shifting at slow speeds but i can definitely tell it got better/smoother. it feels like the gears are a bit cushioned now when shifting. not like before where it feels like metal to metal.
i'm going to drive around for a few more days and see if it gets any better or worse.
For now Motylgear did the trick.

A little notchy but no grinding gears at all just a little difficult to engage gears when its cold outside. Not neccessarily the car being cold just the temperature outside. But then again it even says it may be difficult to engage gears in the owners manual due to cold.

I have had AWFUL notchyness and grinding into third gear. Was hoping my first track day would loosen things up but the grind it still there.
At the track my revmatched downshifts were crunchy. I hope it gets a bit better when I switch out to MTL.

last night driving home my shifts were almost like butter. i dont think im shifting any different or changing any habits.
i'm thinking of trying BG syncro shift II, Motul Gear box, and any other brand i can find that people havent tried yet.
pstl pete, let me know how the MTL goes.

red,
did you try motyl gear? or was it gear 300 or other weight?
my co worker drove my car the other day and he even noticed the smoother shifting.
maybe next week i'll try changing it again.

wanted to change to new better fluid and get a short shift but now I will have to go back to a fresh Diaqueen that worked fine once it warmed up.

I know (Goofygrin) who does a lot of autocross had a similar experience with his so maybe he will chime in. I think that he went back to mitsu fluid.
