Myself and many others run AMSOIL MTG, it makes a big difference after a couple minutes of driving to get it warmed up.
Yeah, I'm over it too for the most part. The less I think about it, the less I notice it. I just thought I'd pass along the trick I figured out because it works really well for me.

Just switched from MTG/SVG to MT90/Shockproof Light after 20k km.
The slight notchiness when cold is almost non existent now.
I believe the RL is slightly thicker than Amsoil, transmission feels less noise/vibration.

Hi guys,

Wow 37 pages of comments... I guess my new EVO X is not the only one with stubborn gear engagement- cold or hot.

Can someone cut to the chase for me and tell me if this can be remedied via the dealer and/or if there are good oil replacement solutions that work?
I am a Redline dealer so I would love to use that product-

Thanks again-

my tranny does the notchyness ....and it's f' Gay! lol mitsu should really look into this...tho I have found a way to make it less of a problem shift at 4k and up or engage the clutch all the way down and shift easy! very easy ....I kind of got used to it which kinda sucks .... my friends have driven my car and told me that "they don't know what im talking about"....but i'm glad there's other evo owners that have noticed it...

Hmm. Here I thought it was just me being a super crappy shifter. I get it from 1st>2nd and from 2nd>3rd and that's sometimes.

On my car it is so bad, it feels like the clucth is gone and I can't even engage 1st gear at a stoplight.
I clucth in and then maybe I get lucky and i can grab 1st. From a dead stop, 3rd gear is super easy to engage, so I thinking it isnt clutch related.

How about creep? If I engage 1st gear at the light, sometimes the car wants to creep forward ever so slowly.... the symptom is different with all the ASC and electrics off.

Not me, I changed my fluid at 1000 miles with high quality Motul Gear and I didn't notice much of a difference at all. There was a bunch of metal shavings on the drain plug when I took it out though, but I guess this is normal.

Go to any board for any car and you will see complaints. No car is perfect and the folks here that are reporting problems represent a small fraction of EVO X owners. If you go by users complaints to pick a car I'm afraid that you will never find a suitable vehicle.

Oh yeah.... The STI boards are filled with just as many complaints if not more.

it's not so much of a real "problem" as much as it is an inconvenience/annoyance.

i switched to amsoil mtg, it still grinds when it's cold out (less than 40F) but once it's warmed up after a few miles it gets a little better. I've also had the stick "freeze" as in when i first get into the car and start it, it wont shift into first/second w/o going into third or fourth first. when it's warmer than 40F the mtg is great stuff, no grinding at all.
