My 5th gear has been grinding since day one when I'm above 4500 rpms in 4th. If i push it too far against the wall and up (from 4th to 5th), it will grind. Its audible and you can feel it like crazy.

1100 miles, notchy from 1st to 2nd and the rest is fine. I guess I just got used to 03 WRX tranny

However, when driven midly hard, the shift is smoother.

you guys need to stop being giant gaping pussies

the car is a race car...

the tranny is notchy because it is made for a race car...

mine feels slightly notchy, but after getting warmed up, it reduces a little, but you know what...it doesnt bother me, because its an EVO!!

clunky doesnt mean its grinding and clunky doesnt mean its bad. Think of dogbox trannies..

The new 10 tranny is very very strong and feels clunky because of that reason. Stop being vaginas

I have 1200 miles and it has popped out of second gear three times while turning left. It could be that I did not make a complete downshift. But, three times in two days, I don't think so.

HAHAHA now this is funny.

I currently own a "Racecar" and have been racing for over 10 years. This is a ludicrous statement if i've ever heard one. Stock car with 295 HP is a RACECAR WITH RACING TRANSMISSION?? Now that's Funny, I wouldn't think you'd need a dogbox at that power level. Quit being in denial.

I drove a ZR1 the other day (on a racetrack!) and let me tell you how much better it shifts than my EVO X. 638 HP and even GM got it right. Clunking into gear can be a normal trait, but NOT when it's associated with grinding...THAT IS NOT NORMAL. Mitsu blew it on this one...and they aren't going to fix it and they are trying to give us the shaft.

My 1991 MR2 has been "raced" for years and now takes 330 hp no problem and shifts LIKE BUTTER. Been drag raced numerous times as well and is a SOLID 11 second car (and it's a road race car!). All this on a STOCK transmission with God only knows how many miles on it. You'd think that ALL car manufacturers would have the dang mechanics of desiging a transmission figured out since Toyota aparently nailed it 18 years ago, but oh no NOT mitsu...Oh and I'm a Mechanical engineer and have built ALL of my cars (ones I didn't buy off the lot of course) myself. Don't come here calling me a ***** (or anyone else for that matter) because Mitsu sold me some garbage without a waranty at a hefty price tag and I have a right to make it public knowledge.

Pictures attached since I know you guys wouldn't believe me. I passed all of the cars pictured then some of the owners came and talked to me and I got to show them what their cars could realy do.

haha my 2008 4-door family car is a RACECAR. sorry I gotta laugh again.

I also build my own racecars. Here is my latest project, 650hp tubeframe cobra, 327ci, 9000rpm redline, long rod-big bore, BOSS 302 block. Installing the engine this weekend.

you fail in transmissions. a clunky transmission doesn't mean it = race. based on your judgment, if your headlight falls out while you're driving, you're ok with it because "IT'S AN EVO YARRRRRRR" some have it so bad it GRINDS, don't tell me you think that's because "IT'S AN EVO YARRRRRRR"

I know this is going to sound stupid, but is there an aftermarket transmission available for evo's of any generation? I've built Mustangs and if you want a better tranny you put whatever you want in it. I know, don't flame me, an evo is a highly specialized piece of technology made of unobtanium.
