well the redline cocktail did help, but now I feel the 1->2 crunch coming back..

I guess I will try the base bushings next? Or should I try the box bushings?

I seem to be able to avoid the 1 -> 2 crunch if i make sure to push to the left when shifting and shift fast. I can't seem to avoid the 2 -> 3 crunch tho.

Tephra, did the cocktail help that one?

damn, i was really hoping that would have been more successful. how many miles do you have on your car? i've heard it might get better after the transmission breaks in...

if not, perhaps the three sets of shifting related bushings + a short shifter will help. i hope, cuz this sucks

Hey everyone.
I just picked up my 2010 gsr 2 weeks ago and it's notchy as heck going into 1->2 and 2->3. Not so much for 3->4
Is the consensus still just to break in the transmission?
I was talking to another evo x owner and said that changing the stock shift knob might help. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

sometimes I get it to shift perfectly fine without any grinding/notchiness
but 99% of the time it doesn't.
I've tried going at different rpms and speeds and holding the clutch half way and all the way down to see if shifting in different areas will reduce the grinding but still nothing

soo frustrating..wish I knew this ahead of time

I am currently experiencing this as well. It seems to stop once the car is fully warmed up (usually takes a 15 minute highway drive on the way to work).

The car only has 900 miles on it and has been doing this since day 1. I'm guessing there is no known fix yet?

I have a very strange problem with the manual transmission on my GSR
the center diff. is fully locked and the transmission rattles very noisy!

Got the same problem from the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. 1st to 2nd comes and goes and seems to be manageable if I concentrate on pulling the shifter straight back on a slow shift. 2nd to 3rd is always. A fix would be sweet!

Mine is the same. I drove an VIII for 6 years, so was surprised by the notchiness of the X.

I was really babying the car for the first few weeks, granny-shifting every gear. I have now found that if I shift more quickly and naturally the trans actually feels much better.

(Haven't read all gazillion pages of this thread, so I apologize if I am repeating someone else's observation.)

Some of the guys over on the EvoX forums are reporting this issue being resolved by removing the clutch restrictor pill.

Looks interesting...
