edited just saw the rear looks like a caliber sedan or some ****, im going to go puke now brb

I'm thinking that this ISNT the Evo X but rather the next Lancer that the Evo X will be based on. Why do I say this? There's a lot of 'evoesque' items missing from it (fender flares, big brakes, wing, large tail pipe etc). So don't pass judgement on the Evo X just yet.

"...put on a diet resulting in a curb weight significantly less than that of the current Evo."

hahahahaha...wait, wait....hahahahahaha!

I will bet a crisp C-note this will be proven false.

Correct, that IS NOT an Evo model i am almost 100% sure that this is just the new base lancer. However it looks pretty darn nice.

looks like an evo 9 fitted with either evo x suspension, or engine or possibly everything just on an evo 9 body. (really no way for us to tell). However i'm curious are those 2 cutouts in the rear bumper for throwing off spy shots? or is there a chance at a dual tip exhaust? God i hope not.

I know there is a video surfing on the net of a yellow evo 8 with evo x suspension and braking. If anyone has time search for that video it is one heck of a video.

I think that Mitsubishi is doing exactly what Nissan is doing. Testing new parts on an old platform to see how it responds. Like Nissan did with the new GTR and the G35. If that's what it will look like, I like it a lot.

That looks like a Mazda 6. It even has Mazda rims. Why would Mitsubishi test thier new Evo in Michigan?

Nice pic, but that's an upmarket Lancer - not an Evo X.

It's not like I bought the Evo for the looks.
Hope I can sit in one soon and will report back once I got it in the twisties a few times.

ding ding ding! That's correct, it's not the Evo X prototype but rather the next 'regular' Lancer.

EXACTLY - this is not an Evo X, just an upmarket Lancer. Brenda Priddy jumped the gun on this one.

And making the leap to claim that the car shown has a top-mounted intercooler is unfounded and rediculous.

Actually there is a good chance that the new Evo X will in fact be lighter than current IX simply because it is based on a new Lancer platform which is based upon more rigid but yet lighter materials than the previous generation, add to that the use of an all aluminum engine and other aluminum body parts (as stated by Mitsubishi designers) and potentially you have a lighter car than the current generation, so all in all I wouldn't be surprised if Evo X was in fact lighter than the current offering.

I think that Mitsubishi this time won't disappoint (my assumption is based upon the design direction of the new Outlander which is based on the new lancer platform. Outlander really looks good and even won a prestigeous Good Design award given by a group of auto engineers in Japan) and Evo X will be in fact the best Evo yet, faster, lighter, leaner, meaner.
