Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
the MAIN rivals are still Subaru and Nissan
Nothin' sounds sweeter than the "burp" of the DSG catching the next gear!
Absolutely incredible!
And while I probably won't end up with one, I can guarantee you that the guys who buy the DSG will be smokin' through the gears ahead of the guys with the 5MT.
Not to mention, the guys with the DSG will be enjoying a smoother ride without so much driveline shock (especially during decel rev-matching) - and all the while they'll have both hands on the wheel which will be much more beneficial at the track!

Ferrari and VW/Audi use what they call a 'launch control system'. I believe how it works is that once engaged, the car revs to an optimum point on the tach. while pulling back on both paddle shifters. After that you take your foot off the brake and go. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
Not sure if Mitsu's system will have this feature though.

Negative, ghostrider!
Try heel-toeing your accel pedal while you're holding the brake pedal down. Let off the clutch to "power-brake" as you speak of and see how well it works.
That will be effectively what the Automated Manual transmission is doing.
Without a specific launch-control parameter, your AMT is letting out the clutch as soon as you start pressing down the accel pedal.

I'd be more concerned about the new Z as it's supposedly going on a weight loss plan as well as a power increase.
Subie is rumoured to be working on a 2.7L boxer engine for the STI with HP figures in the mid. 300hp range.
All of this info. comes from multiple sources in the industry.
I guess we'll see 1 year from now.
STi EJ257 - 2.5 H4 Semi closed deck aluminum block motor developed for the US market - No dumbed down American influence there.
4G63 - 2.0 I4 closed deck cast iron block same as in the Japanese Evo's
4B11 - 2.0 I4 open deck aluminum block presumably same as in the Japanese Evo X.

Ehh no. Chrysler's new Evolution X is going to weigh around 3400-3500 lbs and have maybe at most 330 hp, where is the Nissan Skyline will weigh around the same and have 400-500 whp. Not exactly in the same league.
