Yeah, I guess it seems that way. It's a shame too! We have the largest concentration of pure idiot Hollywood-type drivers here. No slam against any of our members of course, LOL.

Eclipse the MR will be released in a series of 4 colors. A weightless white, Mica Grey, Rally Red.. and honestly not too sure about the fourth... I read about it in an article somewhere but sure as heck can't find it now I'll do my best to find it out for ya

My point was not that there was always something better coming. It's simply that the first model year is most often the most lacking in features and the most problematic.. statistically speaking.. for whatever thats worth. Think of it as bleeding edge. You get to deal with all the headaches and then once the next edge coms along everyone else gets to enjoy the toils of resolving bleeding edge issues.. I work enough with bleeeding edge stuff. I DO NOT want to have to screw with it for leisure toys any more. My $3.50 ( tree fiddy) is that the model years following introduction get many improvments, refinements, and even discounts.. economies of scale..

Hopefully things will always continue to improve, but getting the latest and greatest is more an excercise in consumer debugging these days.. Intel Hyperthreading Xeons launched last year.. You don't want to know the incidental costs many corporations faced from early adoption.. Buying 1st model year cars is early adoption, risky and all too often teeming with oppurtunities to uncover problems.

There is a big difference here in always waiting for something better and jumping at the initial offering.. I've jumped before. Been ther done that.. Spent too much time addressing things that should have been already addressed. Now I look carefully, plan my jump, and avoid surprises.. that's all.. just a little caution and time to sit back and watch others spend their time fixing issues.. I've watchd, watched others agonize and suffer through some hardships and now the improvements are coming..

Someone had to do and thankfully some of you did. Thanks! I'm just not into problem solving unless I'm getting paid these days.

There is no doubt that the Evo isn't selling very well. Hell up in Alaska where I live there's at least 6 on the road that *I* know of. And that's in a town of about 400,000 people. I know that's not a lot, but there's no more evo's sitting on the mitsu lot. Sure wish we got more .

I'm just saying because Mitsu is releasing the Eclipse with the supposed hybrid sort of engine for teamed with the 4G63 maybe. Point being....It's going to have a lot of hp and AWD. Why would they want to have two of the same cars going at once? Believe me, I want to have the Evo's stay for a while over here. But "What If"? It'd be more of a strategic move for Mitsubishi to limit the production of the evo's so that people will want to buy them and keep them. Soon they'll become like Syclone/Typhoons, Turbo Buicks, so on and so forth. Granted there are more Evo's then the two kind of vehicles combined...but it's the limited availibility.

And to agree with Mister 2zx3. I too will be waiting JUST a little bit to find out the bugs/if any from the new MR. Can't wait though....I really really can't.

The thing that really blows about this wait is Mitsu's model year and timing. I was relaly hoping to be in a 04 Evo with the typical model year revisions next month.. but There are still 03 sitting around and just a few 04s showing up. So as not to get in a big rush, I'm laying out that hopefully by Christmas the MR will have been here for 3 months and they'l have all the updates ( possible clutch, heh ), cruise? and will be past the inital 6 week frenzy if a it even has any.. since its still and Evo and the avg joe will just see it as the same Evo he's looked at for a year and a half and not be all that jazzed for it.. Then again it could win all sorts of awards and become the new pet rock. Everyone will be talking about them.

Ok so the MR is coming. We all knew that but why oh why doesn't it have sayc? Even though this part by itself doesn't make the MR what it is it sure as hell contributes to the handling.

I say if Subaru can put their version of ayc on the STi and still pass the emission test why can't mitsu do the same.

It seems like all those little blurbs mention everything except Sayc. Why can't we just have it all for once

C'mon mitsu..........you came this far..............don't give up now.............give us the MR the way it was intended to be.

Maybe we should make a SAYC thread since we had the MR thread and it is finally coming.

thanks for the info RedHaeylo7, i guess the fourth color could very well be silver like erikgj said, and I am guessing that it will either be apex silver or something close to it... since they have the dark grey color.

hey Mister2zx3, how come you want cruise control so bad? Even if you go on long trips alot, it's not bad at all without cruise control. I hope that feature doesn't decided whether you buy an Evo or not because I am pretty doubtful that they will put cruise control on the MR, maybe I'm wrong though. I have no idea, just my opinion.

I want cruise becuase driving out to the road circuit it's the best insurance to get there without hassle. and after a day of corner carving it's almost critical to have cruise to keep ya legal and safe.. a good day usually means a very exhuasting day..

I don't want the MR to be a trailer track car. the MR2 is for that. I'd like the MR as a viable track car I can also take around town or on backroads on the weekend. and be able to pile in 4 other people if need be. It's a fun car, that is also very practical.. cruise is just a simple thing that makes it even more practical on public roads. it seems all the other great things improved in the MR make it an even more potent track car.

cruise and factory tint are the only things I can really knock it for. those are just too easy for mitsu do include that not doing so is just simply a stupid business decison.

Sequential Manual Transmission and Under body aero panels are good options to throw in to attract more affluant and performance oriented folks, but aren't "essential" in a street car. But they would be nice boxes to check yes to on an order form.

Hey Mr. 2zx3

From what I've heard and I'm not sure about this but cruise control is actually a pretty easy (and relatively inexpensive) install. I'm not sure if it needs to be make/model specific. Many cars will have it as a dealer installed option. If anyone knows more, please let us know.

I doubt they will add it to the MR but who knows It couldn't add that much weight really or cost them that much. I think it is a good idea for them to keep it as barebones as possible though, it does help keep that wolf in disguise (4 doors for sports cars) image. Plus I never really liked being set up with a car that already came with a bunch of standard electronic options, especially stereo and so forth. The Supra and alot of other already awesome cars could be even more amazing performance cars than they are already; less alot of the luxury and electronics.

I hope butty is coping well, reality must have set in for him. It was hard for me as well to believe that I wasn't the only one on this board qualified to be a true car enthusiast! Don't fall into his game of having to prove yourself with track experience though. hehehe, I'll put 5 smily faces after this comment so it isn't offensive..

My brother installed a generic cruise control on his tacoma. It worked well with no problem.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but lacking cruise in any car over $20k is just silly.. If not maybe I'll make sure I have two frappuccinos before I head over to run some laps.. on the way back, maybe I'll just take a power nap before heading home.. as for aftermarket cruise control setups, I've not seen any I could endure for their individual quirks.. and especially with mitsu being warranty voiding happy.. I prefer a car that gives me exactly what I want.. or why else buy it. It's just my preference. and I just don't believe in settling. I'd rather wait. just my M.O.
