Quote: man it just feels like im never going to get my evo, like my car is destined to be with me or something, I cannot get ahold of the dealer at all regarding on getting a new car. So like I said only time will tell.

Misfire has gotten a whole lot worse cant boost above 8 now... So I ruled out the following

not spark plugs pretty much brand new
Fuel pump - still puts out good afrs even when I got to 17 pounds of boost
Coil packs - im running evo 8 theres no way they should crap out.

so its got to be either
Fuel injectors are going bad
or I need a new fuel filter

I tried running a srt-4, I would have killed him but as mentioned earlier misfire... I was really leaning on towards that 4G64 swap it doesnt look all that difficult but its hard to tell becuase I cant get a loan for a high mileage evo and I cant wait for the dealer any longer... so something has to give

what to do what to do Im a horsepower guy and 17 pounds is getting slow to me

edit** gotta stick to evo plan and be patient

either way the turbo kit is going sometime next week
I don't think it's fuel injectors or fuel filter if you have misfire, cause your AFR is good, that means the fuel is there. There is only a couple things that can cause misfire as far as I know, and that's bad spark, bad fuel, or bad compression. Are you able to check the plugs again, make sure they are okay, and run a compression test while they are out?

Also...the evo coil packs, what's different about them, they supply more amps or something? It could be that they are the issue, but you tried oem ones already right? That would be my first guess though, is the coil packs aren't able to put what they want out, due to something else electrically holding them back.

The Evo coils are the exact same thing as Lancer coils , same part number ect .

Ive raced a full bolt on srt4 tunned on 22psi and get it by 3 lengths

It has to be because the car runs lean then rich its not the tune, I think its time they need to be replaced the car is running rough

didnt you say that you put in iridiums and you gapped them?

it says right in the ngk book to NOT gap iridiums because it messes up the electrode.

what gap ar you running?

you can gap iridiums http://www.modernperformance.com/images/ngk_plugs.jpg

also what afr are you when u get misfires cause im thinking u might be a lil lean so its causeing a misfire

im at perfect afrs for boost, JRR might be right but theres no other plug I can run without issues.

so, if the AFR is perfect, and there is misfiring....then that means some fuel is not getting ignited all the way, and is making it's way through the exhaust to the wideband, so you may really be running lean.

What about a possible blockage/partial blockage on one cylinder/injector? Like 1,2,4 are getting the correct fuel but 3 is getting blocked in the higher levels? I imagine that might not show up as well on the wideband if 3 out of 4 are doing fine and I know when my engine was cutting out bad it was only due to one cylinder. The rest were firing fine.

you mean a clogged injector? or just a bad cylinder? if its a cylinder that means I need a new engine if thats the case... But I checked my compression like a month or 2 ago and my compression was just fine.

Well could have fried piston rings or something but I imagine its more likely to be an injector or something of that nature. I would recommend a compression test again to be sure its not the cylinder and maybe get some kind of fuel injector cleaning agent.

I didnt even think about a piston ring being messed up

ok so went to autozone to get a cel check on the car

2 codes
P0300 - Random cylinder misfire
P0172 - system too rich

so over ruled it is the injectors, I bought stock ones on ebay for 30 because I misplaced mine so when they come in those are going right in so I can put the car stock. And I hope that fixes the issue, misfire happens above 6-7 pounds now, I get low idle, etc... so if you get injectors make sure you have someone provide a flow test because thats what im going to do when these come off

Well that rules out a single cylinder causing the issue, if the system is too rich maybe your just really fouling out your plugs.

ok so lets just say my car is really wierd, couldnt boost at all, wtf pissed as can be. Went to the dealer to drop off money, and then ran out of gas, decided to go put some gas in, and decided to unplug the battery to let it reset. Filled up and then plugged it back in. Car had to learn again fuel trims. And decided to boost what do ya know 14 pounds easily. Didnt believe it so I did it again and was able to boost without an issue. I still dont believe it so I will try it again tonight just to be assure that im not going crazy. But its like the car had to relearn everything?

Intersting. Watch your fuel trims and see which way they go and if you start to misfire again when they reach a certain point.
