I persoanlly dont think an aftermarket Evo one would work in the Lancer just because of the clearance issue . Because it would be about an inch closer to the turbo with one of the aftermarket ones . Right now on my car there is no spare clearance what so ever with the stock Evo radiator .

If you need to i can post pictures of my set up and see what you think , i also also post proof of me punching it then coming to a long stop with the Ac on with the needle staying at operating temp .

The Cbrd is a nice one but thats pricey to just getting a stock Evo one for $100
Here are some low quality pics of my set up .

That looks like the exact same size as mine. Let do some measurements, as far as depth most important. When I can, I'll run out and look at my stock lancer one.

I thought mine was doing better, but it really isn't. It gets up to 206 and sort of hovers.....then it gets to 212....then 220...then 230....then 237....then I freak out and turn the heat on. It slooooowly overheats, real slow. I'm thinking, radiator, radiator cap, fans, or thermostat could all be at fault. Maybe the new t-stat sucks, maybe the radiator cap has gone bad, maybe the fans just don't push enough air, maybe the radiator is just too small/inefficient for turbo+110 degrees.

Other thing I thought it could be is my EGT's are too hot, thoughts? If my timing is too far off, maybe that extra 100 or 200 degrees of exhaust are screwing me.

Let me know what you guys see as EGT's, I see the following:

800 idle with A/C off
850 idle with A/C on
1150 cruise in most scenarios
1250 cruise on the freeway at 70ish
1400 sometimes extended uphill
1450 is about the hottest I've ever seen in a WOT scenario

Compare that to yours, are my cruise EGT too high compared to idle and WOT?

I just went out and measured my radiator. It's 2 inches thick up top, probably 1.75 or so on the actual core area.

The Koyo R is that thick it seems, judging from some online sales I've been looking at. 53mm thickness it says. The mishimoto is 50mm as well, so almost 2 inches. I think I'll be able to fit a normal aluminum to slightly oversized without issue. The other thing I really think will help is instead of 2 12" fans, I'm going to ask zirgo if they will take the 12" I still have in the box (still have 1 ebay fan in) and swap me for the most powerful 14 they have. I have a good 3 inches of depth for the fan on the drivers size, so I can fit a fan that moves almost double what my 12" does. If those 2 things together don't resolve my overheating issues, then I suspect my tune is just utter crap, and I should go to the nearest shop (MZM) and pay them whatever they ask to fix it for me.

Im 800-900 idle
1100 approx in town driving
1200-1300 highway
1600 there abouts if I am boosting on the highway in 4th. Possibly 3rd idk would have to check.

I watched your vid. That's similar to the way mine acts. I sit, and the needle is at the bottom of the water (coolant about 195), I sit more and the needle points into the middle of the water (coolant 203-206) and then if I sit long enough, it creeps up to the upper portion of the symbol on the coolant gauge (temp 230-235 ish). I typically turn the air off there, and call it too hot.

I'm ordering a 14inch fan and returning this 12inch one I recently got for the drivers side. According to the maker, it moves about twice as much air. Driver's side has plenty of room for a bigger fan so that will help.

I'm also ordering the mishimoto aluminum for an evo 789, since it should fit from what I hear, and it's roughtly the same size, maybe 20% thicker.

I'm also getting a new thermostat from the OEM, since I don't like the one from autozone on principle.
