Nice, there is a tuning shop here called MZM that specializes in mitsu and subaru, but I hear they aren't cheap. I'm trying to do the whole build on my own, with the help of a friend here or there. If I end up having a hell of a time tuning or something, I may take it to a professional. My other problem is this though.

In texas, austin specifically they are fairly strict on emissions. I don't think I can keep my stock cat with an evo downpipe unless I butcher it (the downpipe) to make it shorter, right? Anyone know of a high flow cat that is smaller, that I can weld into the right length between the evo downpipe and my stock catback location?

S*RS Exhaust

I got my ebay SRS exhaust today, that's one more thing for my turbo project that sort of needed to be done. It sounds really...really deep and grumbly, which is cool, it's just fairly quiet, except at lower than 2k rpms, when it's really deep.

Anywho, I don't want to butcher the new exhaust, but I do want to have a cat in place, so when I do the turbo install....am I going to have to cut up the downpipe to make it fit up to the catalytic converter? I think I already asked this in another thread, but I'm still not clear on it. I actually saw a thread where someone was saying that an evo9 downpipe fit right up to their setup which I'm thinking had to be a diff year model or something. So, anyone know about this? I was hoping that I could add a piece of pipe with o2 bungs on it, so that I could put my wideband in and then replace the downpipe later if i wanted. Pics of your setups would help, no one seems to think their downpipe is worth photographing I guess except when showing off their oil line running around it.

get and evo 8 downpipe, and get an evo 8 cat its pretty much bigger than the lnacer cat if your worried about emissions, what you will have to do is cut your exhaust flange off, shorten your exhuast pipe towards the middle besides the front of the car, and then weld a evo 8 flange on the exhaust to mate up with the cat and your pretty much set to go

Dang that was a tough one to read through! All the extra and missing letters, I bet you typed that on a phone, lol.

So...then that's what I was asking I guess, and that's what I'll have to do...I just didn't want to have to cut my catback exhaust. Oh well, c'est la vie. Where are you guys buying your flanges, specifically the one that goes from evo cat to evo exhaust back from the cat (ie the one I need).

hmm, wow...ok, so I'm going to just plug up my downpipe and see where it lands then. If the stock cat is the same size and shape flanges then it ought to work like yours. I'll do a dry run this weekend and see I guess, that's my most difficult piece left, so if it does fit I'll be ready to install inside of next month.

If it doesn't fit up, I'm thinking I'll get one of those shorter "spun" catalytic converters made by magnaflow, and then a couple 2.5 inch flanges and just make that work for me. I guess I will put the bung in the downpipe if the stock cat works, since there isn't much room on the cat.

These are the right injectors, ya? These are out of a 2005 ej205 which is a saab I believe. They are supposedly similar in parts, like a gmc vs chevy truck or whatever. Anyone know for sure though? He says they are "440", same as a subaru.

Someone at work just pointed out ej205 is the engine, which is the same engine the WRX has. That makes sense, so it's a saab that uses the same engine as a subaru. I never knew much about saab, so don't know if subaru makes them or anything. But, I'll order them and see how they look.

Tell me what you think though, 2 links, slightly diff part number:

Tried to get the stud (that doesn't want to have a bolt on it with the exhaust mani in place) out, and it started to go. I got the stud about half way out using the "stack 2 bolts" method, and then I guess I got over zealous after seeing progress because I forced it a little too much and that lil puppy snapped off. Drove up to walmart, since they are the only ones open, with the intention of getting some drill bits made for metal. I didn't want to ruin the nice ones, since they are meant for wood. Anyhow, they just aren't "sharp" enough so I'll head to home depot tomorrow and get some MAN sized/strength bits.

I did take the little silencer out of my exhaust to see how that sounds, and holy jesus....did you guys over in california hear me? waaaay too loud for me to be driving around. With the silencer in it's perfect, with it out, it's just so far beyond normal driving volume levels that I bet I'd get a ticket.

Man good luck with drilling its a PITA!!!!!! Believe me I sat for a total of maybe 2-3 hours drilling out one that was snapped when I got it. That was with those spendy cryogenically treated metal drilling bits. If I had a drill press it might have been easier but the hand drill is a workout lol

I've been in the garage for about 6 hours now, in various increments. I bought some walmart titanium drill bits first, then some home depot ones (bosch or something), then some cobalt bits that were hella expensive from lowe's ....and i'm using 3in1 oil to keep it cool if possible. So, I'm probably 1/6th the way through...what did you use to get through it 03lance... i am dieing here.

Oh, and i got a 3/8bspt x 1/4 jic from the hydraulic place up the street from work, hopefully that works for my feed. 5 bucks too, i thought i'd have to make a lil adapter out of 2, but sure enough the guy had one as a "1 piece" adapter.

I did the same thing as you. Its ****ing tough man I had my hotside off and held in my vise and had a buddy spraying wd-40 so I didn't have to stop as often and muscled through it micro millimeter at a time lol. After the first one I decided threading them out was the only way to go.
