I'm a newb to tuning and it sounds like you are too. I'd say take it too a shop and get a pro to do it. That way you don't have to worry about damaging your engine.

If you are turbo'ing the car, you definately need some way to adjust the fuel pressure under boost. The FMU is the simplest method to do this since it raises the fuel pressure linearly with boost PSI. This is what RRM uses in their turbo kits. However, its not the best way. The best way is to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or even a rising rate one, but one that you can adjust the fuel pressure on. This will gaurantee that your car has the fuel it needs under all loads.

About tuning, there are a lot of How-Tos, write ups out there about how to tune with ECUFlash. There are some good tutorials under the ECUFlash Section of the EVO Tuning Forums. Give those a read and see how you feel. Like mentioned above, if you don't feel comfortable with the risk of damaging or destroying your engine, then you could have a shop tune you instead.

problems

alright, so far ive bought the cable i plugged it in and tryed to do a little datalogging, to see where i stood. ive been up all night trying to find a solution but i cant get the definitions to work or save correctly and ecuflash of course doesnt recognize my 03 es' rom. i tried pulling it off as is, but to no avail. i went looking through the posts for a definition but could not find one that i could get to work. idk maybe in my tired stuper i just cant figure it out. but a little setup info would make my life so much easier right now. thanks.

update: i got datalogging working, everything but wideband afr's im guessing now that i have retreived the raw data from my ecu i need it defined correctly because the only thing that is correct are the immobilizer and init code so if i could get the help in those two areas id be set and i would start dedicating my time to tuning rather than diagnosing what im doing wrong.

on the evoscan i can get the datalogger to start the scan with wideband selected but it doesnt actually retreive any data about the afr's im not sure if i actually have the most up to date version. i payed out right and have not been able to register for some reason. i click the register button and then....nothing happens. so. thats about it. thanks. i have to go to bed soon early class tomorrow.

the rom for your car may not have been the exact right one to match your ecu... this happened to me and I had to have someone create one for me. I waited a while on here, but the openecu forums got right back to me quickly...

Now we need to see what your datalogs are to see where you can start removing fuel. Doesn't make any sense to start changing values without knowing why and where

^----- edit: "wickdaddy" and "definition"

i used the 98720010 definition file because that is the one that corresponded with my ECU. In OpenECUm this can be found under the "Rom Info" pull-down tree after the "Internal ID:" value. if you upload what you have pulled off your ECU, I'm sure we can take a look at it

MORNING LOG

Click here for my morning log.

It is in CSV, so right-clicking and selecting "Save Link As" and opening in Excel will make it a little easier to read

Can you do some print screen of the timing table too? You run leaner in some area than me on the stock map and I want to take a look of the timing.

Did you do the Ecu recall for the Catalitic converter? (Mitsubishi recall...)

I sent you a PM...
