RRM Short Ram Intake discussion thread
Hey,
I just installed the RRM Intake about a week ago. Here are some things I like about it:
1) Makes that 2.0L engine sound Bad A**
2) I can finally feel myself be pushed into the seat when I accelerate
3) It was FAIRLY easy to install. I dk why everyone thinks it easier to put in than gas. but it was easy just took a little time and some wierd tools.

Did you inspect the MAF itself? perhaps it was damaged during the install, they are very fragile little things. Make sure the litle wire on the side didnt get damaged, youll see it. Also, it may have gotten dirty while it was being handled. make sure its clean.
Also try to adjust the cone filter position, make sure its either not pushed in to far, or not out to far. Pushing the filter to far down the pipe might hamper the airflow. Having it to far up the pipe might allow for air leaks.
Did you disconnect the battery before doing the install? if not, then when disconnecting the MAF wires you might have arced it out and damaged the sensor.
if nothing up there pertains, then inspect the SRI pipe for cracks.
cant think of anything else it might be, I thought for sure it woulda been the o-ring, sometimes stuff like this takes awhile to run the problem dwn.

yea i did all that and i also tried sanding off the powdercoat where the MAF goes... im pretty sure my MAF is fine cuz the light went out after i reset the ecu before and then popped back up a couple miles of driving and i havent been able to lose it again
That's weird. My 3 did that for a while. I checked the intake and it had come loose. I bought some T bolt clamps, got a good seal and, PRESTO! No more problem.
want MAF specs to test it with a DMM? thats digital multi meter for those who don't know.
I will send you specs, just pm me with your e-mail. You can test the sensor, then if its not the sensor, well, it has to be the depth at which it is at. Which is quite doubtful with rrm's intake, but who knows.

One more thing! OIL AIR FILTERS! MY intake on my tC origanly came with an oiled air filter. Cleaned MAF problem went away for a day or two. I switched to the AEM dry filter, cleaned the MAF and presto! no mo problemo!
Scott
so there is a performance improvement over the V1 right? will the midram be new one and the sri the same old one or the new one like the 2.4L? and will a heat shield be included?
