Focus RS
i would be surprised if the people who could actually afford this car would really be excited or even use the drift button. If I was 18 again I would like o hell yea a drift button!...But now im like well whats the point of that.
Plenty of people in their 20's can afford this car. If I sold my Evo and civic (and paid the civic off), I'd only be taking out like a $10k loan to buy this car. Beyond affordable with a 3yr loan and a low rate..
I'm 40 now and I don't dismiss the Focus RS just because of a silly named button.

Im not dismissing it for sure because of the button, I just think its kind of goofy. I would love to get this car on a track and throw it around some corners and see what it can really do!
As for the ring times.. it is a fabulous track and ring times are a nice bragging right but they dont make for a fun car... because carrs with most grip dont always have the adjustability we want in a fun car. Also, recent ring record holders always carry stupidly expensive semislick tires..
About the drift button... having the AWD setup in a way that doesnt require scandinavian flicks to get the car in a controlled oversteer is a nice feature that enables the driver to enter the corner in a controlled and safe manner, and exit with a nice feeling of controlling the rear end with the throttle.. This is something that is not present in 95% of AWD cars (and none of the haldex ones) and is a feature I regard highly in my AYC equipped evo 9.
In addition it makes for a superbly fast and capable car in the snow.... Subaru guys are envious all the time..
I don't see how a drift button is any worse than a silly DCCD wheel, or an ACD with snow, tarmac, and gravel options. I think it's a fun idea. God knows I'd use it to mess with my friends. I'd yell "you ****ers ready to drift?!", press the button, and then pull into a drive-thru to grab food.
I have to admit , street programs with the oem acd controller , doesn't really do much for sure.
looks nice when you switch the "set ups" but in a reality... lol
but there is difference, acd doesn't try to make more rear bias. when dccd and drift button does.
acd actually does help in breaking away it closes or opens, so help stabilizing the car a bit under hard breaking , depends on the surface. I find it more as an improvement, in braking then actual under throttle situation.

Right, ACD does nothing for actual front/rear bias, that is mechanically limited on the Evo. DCCD, ATTESA E-TS, P-Car 997 AWD, VAG Haldex style systems and the like change actual front/rear bias mechanically.

i'm going to start a business making aftermarket "drift" buttons. i'll have them say anything but "drift" so nobody will have to worry any more.
And yes, it's not as apparent as actually changing front/rear bias like the other systems I mentioned above do.
That is not correct. If you have ever driven a Evo 8/9 with a reflashed ACD unit or even seen a ACD ROM, even stock, you would know the modes do things differently. However, stock programming is pretty subtle.

Also, I didn't say it didn't change any settings, just that it's pointless.
LOL. now this is funny and would be epic. this, sir, is a fine idea.
at least the drift button DOES something. my car never leaves asphalt. the ACD button is useless. i've read that it makes a difference in snow, etc.. but i'm skeptical.

I am talking about stock ECU systems
I tink depends on your set up too. Like tires and suspension. More stickier you go and stiffer, I think you will notice it less. But I never really raced over 245's and real stiff suspensions so I am not sure how it does feel over what I experienced.
