Focus RS
i just put it up here as my thoughts.
i dont know why any AWD car would be judged by its drifting capabilities.
Its ridiculously missguides the purpose of AWD and never be as drifter as the RWD, so i am not sure where they try to going with this, besides some kind of "lame drifting" bragging rights.
For me same applies with these type of cars 400m or half mile numbers.
Holding up 10th of the seconds as a " i told you its a better car" arguments.....
these cars story and purpose far away from both, and trully doesnt tell 10th of the story. Like handling, steering, feel, suspensions etc etc.
i am sure the RS will be an awesome car, but dont know why every one fixated one thing, drifting.
You can drift almost anything if you skilled enough... Now these demo driving shots and events using pro or semi pro drivers. There is a huge different between them and an everyday driver. Not to mention the free practice times before these events occure.
For a good drift you need skill and ***** first, and most everyday driver doesnt have any ***** or having way to much. Slide around like a brick doesnt equal controlled drifting.
"drifting" needs skill and practice from a driver. In real life scenario, combination of the car and the driver.
Advertising to the mass, dont worry you will be a Ken Block kind of drifter, in my mind just wrong and missleading. Maybe even dangerous.
I am hope i wrong on this.
that is all i have to say about AWD drifting.

I know many Subraru owners that bought their WRX or STis because of that boxer sound. I am sure there will be plenty of people that will be attracted to the Focus RS because it has a drift mode. Is it necessary? No. But its different

+1. Different is a key aspect. I am getting tired of of it though, but perhaps its because I am reading about the car pretty much daily. I'v ready for a while to see some lap times on known tracks, but judging by the most recent Ford video, the FoRS may just now be ending its optimization cycle, so its understandable why we haven't seen any yet. Better be soon though.

It's funny how just the naming of something can change perception. When the STi came here in 2004, everybody thought that having the ability to change the bias more to the rear that allowed the car to be more able to do big long four wheel slides was awesome.
Now in 2015 a car does pretty much the same thing but it's labeled drift mode and self-proclaimed internet automotive purists think Ford slapped one of their loved ones upside the head and blood was spilled.
Although I guess I do realize that some people here where only 10 years old or so in 2004. :-X
I just do not buy into the marketing hype. I would rather see the Nürburgring results than Ken Block "hooning" in the rain.
Ford: Nevermind that its slower than the CTR, it has a drift button. The kids will love it.

I've settled on the notion that the FoRS is not going to beat the CTR Nurburgring lap time. To be honest, I still have a hard time believing that a stock trim CTR will be able to beat a GTR on the ring.
All the ***umption and evo-centric tunnel vision contained in this thread is killing me.
Yes, actual real world reviews, not lap times, or performance metrics like 1/4 mile time. I know some people get a hard on for the Nurburgring, but I much rather hear from someone how the car drives in stop and go traffic, over crappy pavement, in snow, on ice, you know, all the stuff I'll actually do and encounter if I bought the car and used it as something other than a dedicated race car.
Exactly, like 99.5% of how 99.5% of the people on this forum use their cars for, not how 99.5% of people think(fantasize) their 99.5% of usage is.
