Isn't the Golf R a DSG? If so, for straight line performance, the Golf R is probably ahead of its manual transmission version.

Ok, lets follow that line of thinking. If the Focus RS is 3500+ lbs., then it is the heaviest car in the segment. Heavier than the STI, heavier than the Golf-R, heavier than the S3, and heavier than the A45.

P.S. Here is an example of the 2016 A45 listed as 1500 kg kerb weight (which is 3306 lbs) http://www.caradvice.com.au/423203/2...4matic-review/

I said auto, you said DSG, they're both a trans type that shift themselves.

That's not a USDM model... And who is to say it accurate? I'm pretty sure the weight C&D listed for the USDM model they tested is going to be accurate. And per C&D, the FoRS weighed 3459lbs..

The C&D test was done in Belgium. Unless there is another test I am unaware of. Link?

I have owned evos since 2008, and my current car is under 3000 lbs with full interior. To me there is a night and day difference in it vs a 3400+lb. X. It accelerates better, brakes harder, and turns sharper. And the Focus RS looks to be heavier than the X.
Why? Why do you care so ****ing much about the weight of a car you will never buy?

It isn't. The Evo X is heavier.

ORly?

2014 GSR (last US model with Recaros) 3517 lbs. http://www.edmunds.com/mitsubishi/la...eatures-specs/

2016 Focus RS 3525 lbs (for what looks like the Euro car, I suspect the US model will tack on a few extra pounds for a spare tire, also the US wont get the optional sport seats that are in the test car pictured) http://autoweek.com/article/drive-re...-ford-focus-rs

Did you ignore the actual car weights posted earlier? You're cherry-picking weights to fit your claims.

No USDM Focus RS weights are available. But there ARE 3500+ lb. weights posted for Euro versions. You are smoking crack if you think the US model is going to be lighter despite having heavier seats and a spare tire.

Except that a DSG shifts faster than a person does (resulting in faster acceleration times), while a slushbox auto usually does not.

We all know what I meant, quit nit-picking the term I used to describe the type of "automatic" trans is in the car, and agree that the race depicted was not exactly fair. Especially since the Golf R is available with a manual. The AMG has no manual available, so that is what it is. But the race between a manual R and the FoRS would have been even closer.

We don't really know. But the test was done at Ford's test track in Belgium and the car had euro plates.
