some places reports 345 claimed hp, ford said 350. Either way the drive train loss seems bigger then a mechanical counter part. Based on the on claim HP numbers and the times the car runs with that weight.
19 inch wheels I think also unnessery fo the type of car is.
If I would be an RS owner that would be my forst mod. Go and get a nice 18 inch wheel set up, but that can be also iffy, since lowering a car maybe a problem also with a stock suspension set up , maybe not

I LOLed when I saw the car was being sold with 19s. Silly.

Even if the car had 300bhp, I'd still want it.

Something is fishy then.... if it is drivetrain loss then doing a little research and math using a 2015 STI dyno as a reference equates to around 27 % drivetrain loss for an RS......I doubt it is that. Until one gets strapped down it will be hard to say.

As you said and I agree, I think it's more hype to gain market share from Ford.

Just like the EVO, the STI comes with pretty short gear ratios in the trans. If the RS is geared differently (taller), it can certainly effect 0-60 and 1/4 mile ET/trap speed.

Yeah in looking quickly at the RS gear ratio it appears a bit taller. So in that respect it should trap several MPH higher having the greater torque and HP rating.

I have been trying to give Ford the benefit too but I feel like they're trying to slip us a phoney Ben Franklin.

Straight line numbers, "so far" are very on par with the Subi.

We shall see.

Taller gears hurt acceleration (all other things being more or or less equal). Taller gearing will have it trapping at a lower RPM, not necessarily a higher trap speed. We don't want to confuse top speed with trap speed.

Acceleration relates to ET.....how quick you get there. Again both STI and RS are within a tenth or two.

I will bet you if you run your Evo with the stock final drive and give me say ~ +40HP
and a 4.11 final drive I will out trap you all day long.

Don't bring out the John Force in me.

Hmm. That would be an interesting comparison. But I don't think 40bhp would help you all that much, especially at the weights of the STi and RS.

No you won't. The 4.11fd kills the EVO. You need 500+ wtq for it IMO.

I had the 4.11 in my car. It ruined it. Going back to the stock final drive was an excellent decision. And my car makes a bit over 400wtq.

It looks like half of the seven or eight people (that gave any reasoning) in that thread voted for it. Not that it makes much difference (who knows their qualifications). The only reason i see to go with a taller gear is so you don't have to shift into 5th at the drag strip. Even then, it's going to hurt acceleration unless you have a ton of torque to push the car. I guess running out of 4th or using 5th hurts the ET more than having to use the taller gear, so what is a drag racer to do?
I'd just by a Camaro.
