The intercooler was too efficient without it.

I understand those words but I don't understand what you're saying.

I will go one more and say I have never heard of such a thing.

OEM intercoolers have usually been one of the first ticket items to replace as an upgrade.
Both the ST Focus and Fiesta have an aftermarket to upgrade theirs. Tough sale for me
to believe FORD over achieved here.

Something else is going on here.

Or maybe Amby you were referring to the block off plate? I thought that was discussed as added due to Ford seeing condensation build up in the IC.

No, I anticipate you posting those numbers will cause a certain member to argue about the numbers for the next 10 pages.

Has any one ever heard of this ever happening in the Evo world? I have seen some massive IC's installed in Evo's but never condensation complaints. Maybe it is to dry out here to experience this but in London or the mid west it could be conceivable..... interesting indeed.

Wonder if this could have been one of the causes all along of the random P0300 misfire code and not known it.

IIRC, Ford had an issue with their turbo F150s where condensation would form in the bottom of the intetcooler during cold weather. This was fixed by reducing airflow to the cooler. I guess the same thing has happened here.

There was a chapter in this thread focused on an "issue" Ford found with the intercoolers in testing. Apparently they were building up condensation on the inside and the solution was to add a block off plate. I don't know if this is true and I don't want to start a fight with anyone

The head of the Ford program said as much himself in an interview.
