Focus RS
Not necessarily. IIRC the allocation was 10K units for the US market. For comparison the EVO was built with a 5k unit allocation and there was a slight oversupply. Ford might be trying to bolster buyers anxiety and sales by telling us that there's a limited supply.
Like I said earlier they hyped this vehicle way too much and then under supplied it (particularly in the US). If these are new marketing techniques then they are doing it wrong. Is amost like Ford is saying we got you covered world....we will get to you later US.

Then those who wait may be rewarded........................

Just wait a year and people will be flipping them.

If that article is true the availability on that would be even more limited due to the cost and the needed sacrifices for road use. On other forums, some people have said Ford has told them their car is built but have no idea when it will ship.
What if Mitsu had done a factory hotrod version? With a MHI 18K and updated AWC/AYC modes how many of those could they have sold? Does the Focus RS reaction show pent-up from performance AWD nuts or an after effect from ford's continual marketing that is still going full bore.

Unless they end up pissing off customers with dealer mark ups and unavailability. Their bolstering techniques are back firing on them.

My suspicion is that the Evo was never a money maker for Mitsubishi, it was just a halo car for the otherwise dull company. When the racing heritage became old grainy film it was time for the car to go.

Be nice if Ford would give a special release vehicle for US customers..... but then the world would get upset. Course Japan gets away with it....I say do it.

Ugh that blue is so... weak.
Also, I think you guys are nuts if you think we'll ever see another CT9A/4G63 type car. CAFE requirements, emissions requirements, and the demands of customers for cars to not be chintzy crap boxes will prevent another manufacturer from selling such a car. And a big part of the equation was that the car was severely underrated from the factory, as many Japanese cars were due to the 280 PS gentlemen's agreement. That's also gone.

I would like to see that test. Hopefully someone will do it.
Evo 4G63 has only 1 mpg lower rating than the 4B11T. But yeah, the ante has been upped quite a bit with the FoRS and the technology it brings for the money. I think Subaru has been caught asleep at the wheel. I'd say they are in big trouble, but it seems like the flat-four following never waivers.

Ford should try to break the Isle of Man record in the Focus RS or whatever Subaru did a couple of years ago in that youtube video. "Only" changed the shocks!
