Disagree? So if it was "optional equipment" you would select it? How much would you be willing to pay for your race car soundtrack?
Bro, seriously, why do you care so much? You have no interest in this car. You're again all over the map. You tried arguing it had weight and cost consequences, and when that didn't work, you're just going back to the "well it's dumb" argument. Who gives a ****? Lots of cars have pointless features designed purely to make the car more "fun" for the average driver. Audi has a system in some of its cars to put fuel in the exhaust to make it pop on a downshift. Is it pointless? Yes, but is it awesome? I think so.

I genuinely don't understand why you continue posting in here when all you do is complain about seemingly every aspect of the car. I really do not get it. It's like you derive some bizarre pleasure from telling the world you don't like something again and again and again, and arguing with the people who actually like the thing.

So I take it, you would choose it if it was optional. How much would you pay?

Deflection and missing the point, all in one.

Anyway, $40k kinda sounds reasonable to me, in this day and age. Anyone else?

The fact that I agree with nemsin on this is making me rethink my position.

Nope, still ****ing stupid.

It makes a tiny bit of sense in a sports version (M/AMG/S/etc) of a high end luxury car where the cabin is extremely isolated but the driver may sometimes want a bit of engine feedback. But in a souped up econobox?

To nemsin's point, if it had been an option on the Evo X, would you have clicked it?

Pops and bangs are not pointless since you said its awesome too
you should hear some of these tunes which are tuned right. Actually the Jaguar kind of nailed it for what it is for that car.

I hate to say that but engine sound from the speakers in a performance car sound lame.
Its probably kind of like having sex with a inflatable doll, I wouldn't even get a hard on on that , but some people doesn't mind ...

Any how , I actually do agree with that, engine sound from the speakers idea sounds pretty lame, specially when they do add on pops and bangs tune to the car.
There is quite difference between an artificially mimicked sound from the speakers vs the real pops and bangs from the exhaust .

Other then that, if the car will be as the older generations, probably I will have one in 2018 .

$35,730 base (with Recaros)+
19" Forged wheels with Pilot Sport Cups
Heated seats, Mirrors, steering wheel
Navigation
Sunroof
Destination
= $42,275

I think that's a good price if you where looking for a performance AWD hatchback with those features currently, new.

In (absurd because it's not a freakin' hatchback) comparison since everybody keeps comparing it to the evo (which makes sense on an Evo forum), even though it's a totally different car and a sedan....

A 2015 GSR with the same options (minus recaros and dynamic suspension) would be: $41,905 Wait, wut?

A 2016 Golf R with comparable options would be $38,750 (without sunroof option)

Hmm, what's another performance AWD Hatchback you can currently purchase new...

A 2016 Mercedes AMG GLA45 with comparable options is $62,135 Oh my.

This. Whether I would add it as an option to my dream car is a bit of red herring. My point for sometime has been that your continued obsession with the RS, a car you admit you don't like, borders on the insane.

No. But it doesn't matter because you don't have to keep it.
Did I like the BBS wheels on my Evo? Would I have to picked them as an option? No. But who cares? I took them off.
My car came with OEM oil temp/boost/volt gauges. Would I pick them as an option? No. I took them out.

Who cares about options you can undo? It's a weak argument for disliking a car.

Regardless of what non performance options this car has, I have a hard time believing Ford will struggle to sell the entire run of these cars and dealers won't have to resort to deeply discount them after they sit on the lot forever. These will sell based on it's big picture attributes - hot hatch, awd, turbo, manual, 350hp/350tq, (most likely) large aftermarket support for $36K. Done. Hook, line, and sinker for about what 2,500-5,000? people in the US each year ready to purchase.

Ford makes the exterior all peacocky and brash, and it has a drift button - group A of 2,500 individuals buys the car. (Making up # don't know what the production run will be) These are the people who like Ken Block and Rallycross. People who like their huge wing on the evo.

Ford makes the exterior muted and restrained, sells it without a drift button or fake engine noise in the cabin, no drama to the execution - group B of 2,500 individuals buys the car. People who like german automobiles (Audi's S exhaust popping feature aside). People who like to take the huge wing off of their evo. Or bought X MR.

There's what 1,000 people that over lap? 1,500? Either way - Ford is selling all 2,500.

Automakers shouldn't ignore constructive consumer criticism. But they will ignore people's subjective complaints when they are doing just fine selling the car. (of course that changes if the sales aren't there). Time will tell with the RS.

EU is lucky to have some better FWD cars like the Megane, and compared to that, the GTI is boring as hell and with all due respect, R is not better. I am not talking about tuned cars...

Funny you say that because the Seat Cupra R uses the same chassis as the VW Golf.

LOL on piped engine sounds. I have a Daily Beater Veloster Turbo and it has this feature. Stock on all VT's. 1 wire unpinned from the factory amp and it's gone.

In the Korean models for 2016 you can actually tune the sound through the touch screen radio.

Yes it's stupid

Thank you. My point was that Ford spent development time and money on these synthetic engine sounds played through the speakers. Clearly those costs will get passed onto the consumer.

At least if it was optional people could choose not to have it.

Even if it is easy to defeat, you still paid for it
