how long has it been since you've driven a bone stock Evo (no tune)? a stock Evo X isn't that quick. When I bought mine I went from a Lexus IS350 to the Evo and I'm pretty sure the Lexus felt quicker... magazines compare bone stock to bone stock...

Not long ago, The FE doesnt suffer the early evos choking problems etc. FE feels quick, def. doesnt seems slower then the RS. Unless you can register about 0.3 sec with your ***.
To me the RS doesnt feel a lot or even faster as i am driving. But i do not doubt it is. Just i cant feel that difference.

That is what i am saying. nothing more nothing less.

Sort of. But I agree with you, a stock Evo X is pretty slow. Even a stock 8/9 is fairly meh..

The Evo 10 hasn't had "choking problems" since the second ROM rev in 2009. That's six years of no "choking problems".

However, the 10 in stock form feels very slow. The RS feels quick.

I think you've been breathing too much "rallye" dust.

5th mode for RS - said to be best for street and highway driving
1. Select track mode
2. Turn off sport suspension
3. Switch on traction control

Result - tolerable ride, aggressive brakes/throttle and shunt protection.

If you inhale a lots of Rally dust, isn't that bad when you have to judge handling/performance.

But you right, here in forums means nothing.

so its just my opinion, and i stand by it. I said the RS doesnt feel far faster then an Evo in stock form. I believe it is faster, but i cant tell when you are really on it. Feels like a lot better tuned STI, bigh push at low and then flatting out at higher rpm. But no Turbo rush, and that makes it less agressive acceleration then the Evo have.
I am talking about what I felt.

i took out the car yesterday to an actually rally stage area, and road. It was fun.

This car is a tons of fun, and real performer. Too bad i destroyed a sets of tires on it in 4 days lol

some photos i made quickly.

Track mode in any surface i was driving was useless and unbearable to me.
I only can add on Sport suspension never able to turn it off. At least i couldnt do it. I only used the selections they give you. Only were able to add more stiffness, and off traction.

I find myself a same way as with the Evo. Traction turned off.
However the difference for me, the Evo with traction on, simply without any drama makes you run wider, the RS will make you turn thighter than the Evo, but really twitchy way. Almost like PIO* action behind the wheel.

I felt not comfortable at the edge with traction on in both cars.

(*Pilot-induced oscillations may be the fault of the aircraft, the pilot, or both.)

I'm okay with linear power. Prefer it, actually. The lag, followed by a top-end rush is fun for a min, but unpredictable, imo. I'm dealing with that at autox right now (a compromise I have to deal with). Makes driving a challenge because I have to plan for it.

I agree with you on the EVO and turbo lag. I often find myself needing to shift into 3rd at autocross and just don't because a slower turn is around the corner. Being a former ST owner having the instant turbo down low was awesome. Ford has done a great job with tuning these cars.

Agreed. I used to have a stock IX turbo, then an HTA71 after. The car felt amazing with the instant boost. The car was seriously quick.

Select track mode and then depress the button on the left stalk to deselect sport suspension. Finally, press the button on the center console to turn traction control back on.

the noticeable difference to me as a driver between Sport vs Race track mode, was only the stiffer suspension and traction off. I couldnt tell any throttle etc respond diffrence even if there is any. I think the car should have the Normal, and the sport mode only

I found the Race Track mode rather annoying. Drift mode was cool on looser surface, but not something i would spend time on it.

All and all the car worth every penny

How are you able to get a RS for days of testing? Now that you've had a positive experience with it are you getting one (now or next-gen) for the street?
