Annnd this is one of many reasons I always delete drum based e-brakes on dedicated track cars lol.

Just sounds like a bit of un-luck in the adjustment after getting hot. Usually E-brake sees pretty much no heat buildup and why we do almost no service on them. Its 99% there to hold the car and using it in an emergency to actually stop is pretty dangerous (Tug the ebrake mid corner and see what happens ).

I would just replace the rotors and anything else that looks bad and follow FSM to adjust and send-it.

I just ordered new stoptech rear rotors + EvoX front rotors + SS pistons + SRF.
my question is what happened to the self adjustment of the drum pads? Shouldnt that work? unless my drum shrunk instead of elongating, it shouldnt grab. wondering if the parking brake mechanism needs a full refresh
BTW I had to keep the emergency brake pulled way into the turn. its pretty smooth and no lock, thats why I thought I may have different pads than you guys

Did you apply the E brake while stopped and the brakes were still hot?

So while shopping for rotors, I read that OE blank rotors has about 64 cooling vanes while 4lbs-lighter-Stoptech-like 'sport' rotors only has 34 cooling vanes. Has there been any discussion around this for track usage? I wonder if we should consider installing OE blanks for track... theyre cheap and easy to install

Yea, never use your ebrake after a session. Just put it in gear or use wheel chocks.

Some parking brakes use a drum and some use the rear caliper itself. I think GM uses the main caliper. You def dont want to set that between runs/sessions. I wouldnt set my drum e-brake between track sessions but between autox runs I have no problem.

This seems like a good list. I just learned about "pad knockback" (#11). thats probably why i still felt some mushyness mid run. my hub/bearing are all good tho

I checked the camaro (pretty much every car these days) have drum ebrakes. some seat function in MBs (to get out of the car) needs atleast one click of the ebrake to work

I disconnected the clutch switch. I'll be honestly, 95% of the time, I forget when the car is in gear

Everyone that drives my car knows to never leave it it gear and never start with the clutch in. Cause I will be on you every single time! Aint need that thrust bearing wear unnecessarily.

But I'm the only driver on track and no problems with E-brake in AutoX. Front gets crazy hot but not rear.
