Anyway, I say DD because it's the short way to explain. My Evo is an extra car. I drive it pretty often (multiple times a week) for fun. And then also use it for AutoX and drag strip. I'm not in either competitively, just have fun with it. BUT, i still want to be optimized if i can, hence the A6's. So, trying to get across, it's not like i depend on the car to get to work, and commute in it daily. I'm willing to donate the rest of my current street tires to experimenting with more camber.

I'm stationed at Ft Bragg (Fayetteville), but live as far away from that God-Forsaken town as i reasonably can. It's like dead nuts center NC.
I figured it was something military related. just curious if you were in jacksonville or fayetteville. i spent a lot of my younger years near jacksonville.

neither of the two are great place. fayetteville is a giant truck stop with monsterous hicks and jacksonville is overrun with marines, titty bars and car dealerships.

i'm actually installing a baby seat base in my back seat so that when people come scope me out in paddock after pointing me by, they'll see the baby seat and feel even better.

most DE event's let you use schroth harness with ASM. i do agree with aaron that you don't want to use any harness if you don't have roll bar in case of a roll over, ASM doesnt have you there.

once again, if you don't have roll bar, then it's best to use oem seat and seat belt. if you have roll bar, then you'll need fix back seats, harness and head/neck restraint.

when i drive Chu's car, i use his oem harness instead of his Schroth. i also do the same when i'm in student's car.
kinda weird how it works, but yeah thats basically it.

I always use my harnesses in the EVO because I feel it allows me to control the car better & better car control = less chance of a roll over.

I'm guilty of using my harnesses in the car, but for the most part, I only use the lap belt adn use the stock belt with it. I know the fixed back I have now is unsafe without a rollbar, but it makes me feel more comfortable driving. Kinda sucks moving around so much in the stock seats. Someone sell me an Evo X seat!

AreSTG, you probably have all your answers already, but if you're looking to run 285/30/18's the recipe is simple.

install extended studs front and rear
get a set of 18x9.5 or 18x10 RPF1 et38
get a set of 20mm spacers for front
get a set of 5mm spacers for rear
have chu *****slap your rear fenders with a quick roll of the lip
grind the casting mark off the rear LCA where the tire will rub under deflection
install said wheels and tires
get dominated at the autox by PCD Evo's on street tires
Done!

There are lots of ways to do it but what's listed above is the cheapest and easiest. YOu can get custom CCW wheels made to fit, perrin PSRS (offset caster version) and custom control arms if you wanna get cray wit it.

^ you can control the car but you can't control the track. fluid on track, mechanical, other drivers, things that you can't control. remember how lucky you were at the glen when that vette dumped fluid all over the track. some other cars weren't lucky then.

my number one priority on track is safety first, then fast second. every car i put on track, i concentrate on making it safe first, then fast.

Just tell them it is a racing seat for little people and if you don't get passed in tech it is discrimination!

i'd like to have better seats and harnesses down the line. the X seats have some fairly aggressive bolsters for a street car but i find myself putting my right leg over the seat bolsters so that i can lean my leg on the door with my foot on the dead pedal to brace myself under cornering.

cool story? i got plenty of them.....

I lol'd, hard!

I always use my ASM harness on track, good .5sec in that harness. Besides if anything happens to me, my life insurance will take good care of my loved ones.

not disagreeing with you, safety is (or at least should be) FIRST! I did it backwards in the EVO though. Like most people. I did suspension/brakes and power first. Safety wasn't really a concern until I had kids and started to really pickup speed on track.

Worlds fastest street tire Evo and has a insanely fast airshifter. Yep, his 430 and the alpha 10 or 12 GTR wasn't there. But I was checking out his honda ruckus, it has like a tiny gt10 turbo getting put on it. That's just craaazay! Lol

Btw he's asking 35k for the Evo and has like 80k into it.
