that isnt too bad. I understand people are able to run around 1.1-1.15 lambda on e85 around cruise (gas afr around 16-17) which would get even better. only i wonder how much power you would lose. it would be nice if you could use the aem wideband as a simulated narrowband, that would make things easier

Yeah Zeitronix FTW, being able to run the simulated narrowband is a nice bonus. I thought about running leaner than stoich, but I don't drive enough highway to justify it. I have heard through others that controlling the AFR through the rear O2 is troublesome as it tends to hunt alot, being too far downstream.

Do you think power loss is really relevant? I dunno about yours but I can barely climb a slight grade without going into open loop.

Ordered a set of Hoosier A6s this morning. $1477 shipped. /bleh

Might consider trying the Hankook Ventus Z214s next year. They were $992 shipped but were at least a 4-5 week wait. I think I'll save $500 next year to give them a try.

didn't really see that much of an improvement using lean burn while DD - I played around with a lot of settings etc and would see a 1-2mpg improvement here and there but it wasn't always repetitive......staying out of boost as much as possible is the best way to save fuel (what fun is that?), or leave the evo at home and get another car.

Best highway I ever had on e85 was 19.8 mpg and that was on the stock narrow-band sensor....it was purely highway on a trip staying out of boost pretty much the whole way -just cruising.

You can use the AEM wideband to control your part throttle fueling, it takes over the stock sensor......did it with my LC-1 and ZT2, but never had the best results vs. the stock sensor due to the sensor being further down the exhaust stream as Ian mentioned. I had plans to move the wideband sensor up closer to the stock sensor but my time with the evo ran up.

One thing you can do also is mess with ignition timing in the cruising areas of the map, I saw some nice drive-ability results doing that on e85, most only worry about WOT but a lot of improvements can be made on cruising with enough time spent. Same with 93 octane......just need to spend the time.

Then you also realize that you will most likely need 2 sets a season.

As far as other tires other then A6's. When you do well this year, you will never be able to go to anything but the A6's (there is a reason they are the only tire auto-x people use). Welcome to the world of racing!

my only hope is that I don't do as much racing as some of you guys do. So hopefully a set will last me a season. Here's hoping anyways.

You can use the Z214's for road course stuff (A6's will be toast anyway after a weekend on a road course).

Check with Gruppe-S as they had a great price on z214 C-51 compound a while back.
