THe FP54 is a 57# a minute turbo. Which means, on kill mode with all the supporting mods, should be able to make ~570whp.

How is the spool?

I sadly don't have an FP54. Mine has the larger turbine wheel. Don't get me started on why LOL.

The turbine on the FP54 is much smaller. Which means it flows less.

So mine is more than 57lbs/min? Either way, i still think I may be better off with the one I got.
I love the HTA71 for the street...but maybe the 54 is even better. Results pending.

The compressor is the same 73htz that flows 57lbs/min. The turbine is not included in the lb/min flow rating.

I hope it happens.

718 + 3D = $$$$$. No way it would ever be affordable. The raw 718 alone would be around $700. 3D printing would be well over that cost, then it has to be heat treated, and then remachined because heat treating will cause some minor shape change.

I have an 73HTA and on E I make a touch over 500whp dynojet. I'd imagine the FP54 should be able to make it too 500 as well

they went on to explain that every turbo has a limit to how fast it can spin, and were skeptical of 500 on the fp54...though they wouldn't say for sure that 500hp would bring this turbo over that limit

The compressor will do it. It's a question of the turbine being able to flow that much.

But, seeing as how guys routinely get over 450whp on a max effort 71hta, I would venture to say the FP54 will do 500 just fine.

In that case, I'm very glad I got the larger one.

My 450whp is @ around 25psi with lots of fuel and mild timing. Even with the smaller turbine, I gotta imagine 500whp would come pretty danged easy.

Looks like they include the coating of the housing in the price now for 100 more, before it was just an option.

Have them do a TS hotside that fits EFR supercores, similar to what Boost Resource is doing for the X

From what little I do know, these housings are being made because you can't put a "real" sized turbine in the 8/9 housing. What was explained to me is that FP can only make the turbines so big, otherwise you put holes in the housing when machining it.

And I could be wrong, but I don't think there is room to fit bigger than a 7163 in the OEM location for the Evo 8/9. I think the Evo X has a lot more room for things on the back of the engine.
