Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
I don't understand, why do the calipers peel so badly? I mean with the number of cars out there with painted calipers that are fine for so long, shouldn't the brembo's be very long lasting with the quality they are known for?
I don't get it why the Brembos on the Evo's peel like crazy. I never see the Brembos on the STi or the Z peeling. Are the Brembos on those cars powder coated and the one on the Evo's are painted?
wait... they replaced your calipers? because the paint was chipping? wow. I thought that would be ware and tear.. which wouldn't be covered by warranty. Mine are chipping as well.
Sorry for the noobness, but I just have to ask since my friend is doubting me.... I bought a bone stock 2006 RS. I am the second owner of the car....
what exactly are my warranty terms? thanks!

I had my calipers replaced from peeling paint, They also just denied me of covering me under warranty for my timing belt snapping and the cams being scratched and valves possibly being bent. I have few mods They F***** me over. They make it impossible for me to want to buy another evo
what mods?
Edit: Nevermind, I see aftermarket HKS 272's.
No real surprise that your warranty was denied on that front. I'm shocked someone would expect it not to be.

i just had to deal with mitsu over a tranny/clutch warranty issue and seriously i am thinking about getting an STI everyone that i know that owns a subaru says they are waaay better when comes to warranty.
Eh, I'd do your research on that before believing that. I've spent a lot of time in the subaru camp and I definitely wouldn't say that.
Truth is that with both if you're trying to get a modded car warrantied you shouldn't go into it expecting to be covered. People have a hard enough time getting stock vehicles covered, no sense in muddying the waters with mods.

Went to the dealer today to get a bad 5th gear synchro replaced. The dealer I went to is more of a mod friendly dealer. Another friend of mine with the same mods had his 3rd gear synchro and t-case replaced under warranty a few weeks back.
Anyways guy pulls up my car history in the database. ! MODIFICATION ALERT!
A month ago my ECU fused popped. My car was towed to the nearest dealership via Mitsu Roadside Assistance. The dealership it went to has a reputation of being very mod unfriendly. Anyways they blamed the ECU fuse popping due to a wiring harness for a turbo timer. Keep in mind the turbo timer wasn't even plugged in and it was wired into the ignition, which has its own fuse. Reason being "The aftermarket wiring places additional stress on the circuitry of the vehicle". I argued separate circuits and separate fuses, but with no luck.
Anyways the mod friendly dealership test drove my car today, agreed with the 5th gear synchro being bad, but the nice dealer (WALSER MITSUBISHI) had marked down every modification I had when they replaced the ECU fuse. Here is what the warranty status page said --
"POWERTRAIN RESTRICTION DUE TO MODIFICATIONS: WASTEGATE BYPASSED, ADJUSTABLE WASTEGATE CONTROL, AFTRMRKT EXHAUST, NO CAT CONVERTER, AFTRMRKT AIR INTAKE, AFTRMRKT SUSPENSION, NON OEM WIRING & ELEC PLUGS, HOLE IN GLVBX"
Kinda sad that they were nit-picky enough to mark down a hole in my golfbox down on the warranty sheet.
So no luck on warranty...sucks that some dealerships are nicer than others. Further research has brought Magnusson-Moss Warranty act to my attention...I will be researching into my options further. If you have any good advice, please help!

Anyone getting those notices that they keep sending that tell you that your factory warranty is up and you can take advantage of a direct purchase program to protect your investment?
I have a Evo 9 that i bought at the end of 06 and the warranty is up already? I guess...
