COBB AccessTUNER Pro for 2008 EVO X (merge)
Please leave the device connected to the computer while it updates as it may take a while depending on what version you had prior, your internet connection, how hard our servers are getting hit, etc.
For those with custom tunes you will need to have your shop open an re-save their maps in the current version of AccessTuner Pro, then send it back to you. Reflash your map and you will be good to go.
Thanks,

I updated this morning and I posted earlier about how the firmware update didn't go smooth. well just now, i opened up the updater again to make sure it was up to date. and of course it started downloading/installing on its on, and again the program is "not respponding". Perhaps i remove and reinstall the updating program? see pic below

Would you mind starting the AccessPORT Updater without plugging in your AccessPORT to see if the AccessPORT Updater is trying to update itself? If it simply boots into the Updater and asks to connect the AccessPORT then I need you to go to the AccessPORT menu on the AccessPORT and select About then read what is listed under Firmware.
As for the random numbers, well, your language files are not installed properly for the AccessPORT Updater -OR- you are working directory is not getting set properly by using a bad or alternate shortcut. Reinstalling the AccessPORT Updater should resolve this. If it does not, then I'll need you to go to Help then About and read what the build is for AccessPORT Updater.
[EDIT] In addition, it is probably locking up because, once again, your working directory is invalid. There is a 'connect your AP' message that is supposed to show, assuming the software can find it. If in doubt, just uninstall and reinstall. Something is screwy.

ok, i've been updating firmware for years with various stuff like routers, cd-rom, mobo bios.... so this isn't exactly new to me.
originally when i installed i did not have the AP plugged in and i got an error during the install. so i removed/uninstalled, and reinstalled with the AP connected. installation of the program went smooth.
every time i open the update program by ITSELF, it would crash and get garbled text like in my picture. but if i had it connected and THEN started the program, it would say "up to date" or something and the text was normal.
so i figure, i'll connect the AP, let it load, THEN open the updating program....i didnt know it was going to be garbled text again and freeze up on me. right now im going to reinstal and see if that helps. is there a problem with the update program and VISTA?
basically im concerned that my firmware update is not installed correctly and/or currupt.
btw, i can't really tell what the program is donig when the text is garbled...

ok i dont mean to take away from this thread, but...my own advice fixed this.
it seems like your AP needs to be connected while you instal the updating program, eventhoguh this is not instructd. this is so finicky, atleast for me :-/ atleast the AP was easy to install on car.
thanks

The garbled text you see are the unique identifiers for the string translations. In your AccessPORT Updater directory there should be a .oneclickrc file and a langs file. You can try deleting the .oneclickrc file to see if there is a preference prohibiting the language from loading correctly.
On Vista, you could try executing the software as an administrator to see if it is a permissions problem with the files. If the files are in your directory, your user account may not have access to it (thanks Microsoft).
yes i have confirmed the firmware version on the access port itself. also, just now, after reinstalling it confirmed im up to date. is this good enough?
only reason i ask is because i have NEVER failed to flash firmware on anything. i've never had to deal with this. just because it says yes you have version 1.3.1.0 you are up to date, does that mean it was flashed correctly? i guess i'll find out once i get my updated map from perrin and i swap maps on the car.

AP reports v 1.3.1.0 and it updated the dongle on connection (and had he disconnect/reconnect it a couple times). Reads map in car, changes map in car but will not get into any form of data logging or display.
I have connected to the dongle and the car. Reflashed the car to one of the stored maps on the AP device three different times - same result. When I go to select any form of logging (view live data, set live list, set log list, ...) there is a very sllllooooowwwwww scroll text at the top that reads that the map is out dated and needs to be updated to work with this version of AP.
