Well nothing confirmed yet, just rumours. Zach Braff quote from sep06: "I think this is the last year. Touchstone and NBC still hate each other and that doesn't bode well for a show that they both do."

wow... an october issue and the front end got a major overhaul! (looks a little like an older concept though) i was told by a rep at the NYC auto show that the concept x that we have all gotten used to on this thread was 95% of the evo x... i like both styles, i must admit...
anybody have any new info regarding anything other than body style by the way?

from Carscoop regarding the Autocar articles:
from Autoblog:
I got my hands on this week's Autocar magazine that features two wonderful photoshops of the upcoming Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X & its Subaru counterpart, the Impreza WRX STi. Here's a summary of what they wrote:
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X: According to Autocar, we're going to get a first view of the EVO X in the form of a production ready concept, at the Detroit Motor Show in January with the actual production version following in the Tokio Motor Show in October the same year. The most interesting fact though is that Autocar say's that the being a member of the Lancer family, the EVO X will be based on the Dodge Caliber platform !
Subaru Impreza WRX STi: As most of us know, the next generation Subaru Impreza will be offered for the first time with a 5door hatchback body. Autocar, tells -and shows us through it's nicely made photoshop, that the new Impreza's design will be "Europeanized". As for the mechanics, the top spec STi will be again fitted with Subarus 2.5 Litre boxer motor

The Scooper of Cars was kind enough to scan the latest cover of Autocar, which shows the new face of Subaru (maybe) and reveals a few other nuggets of knowledge about our favorite road-going rally cars.
The new nose of the Subaru is a welcomed photochop for those of us who never particularly warmed-up the current model's snout. Autocar is confirming what we've already know -- that the new Impreza will likely come in a five-door hatch model, with styling that is more 'Europeanized.' Motivation will come from the tried-and-true 2.5-liter boxer-four that is currently under the hood of both the WRX models and their STI upgraded counterparts. We're sure a few extra ponies will find their way under the hood, along with some new all-wheel-drive wizardry
On the Mitsubishi Evolution side of things, the article confirms that a production-ready version will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show (or the Detroit Auto Show to the rest of us) this January, with the full production model being unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in October of 2007.

So to make it all short, Lancer Evo X will be based upon the same platform the new Mitsubishi Outlander is based upon and the regular Lancer will also be based, and again, Dodge didn't develop that platform, they paid Mitsubishi to develop it for them. So you can say that Caliber is based on Mitsubishi platform but you can't say that Evo X will be based on Caliber platform because Dodge wasn't the one in charge.

Personally I think they are ditching the 4g63 for reasons you guys aren't thinking about. The Eclipse GSX used to mod fairly well, but then the 3rd gen's showed up. They made the ECU a really PITA and mods became useless.
I think you're going to get a 320ish hp car... that will NOT except mods whatsoever without pulling the ECU and going to some sort of standalone EMS. The 3rd gen and up eclipse's will actively "tune out" modifications. You put in headers... it retunes to zero them out, catback... same thing. Tuner's tried to reprogram the ecu's... No go. Tried using black boxes and such to trick the ecu, but with limited success.
I really think the new Evo's are going to made to hinder any aftermarket parts. That is the direction Mitsu is going these days.
