I don't really care who built the Evo X platform so long as the car kicks serious a$$. What if DCX had developed the platform? It wouldn't matter to me so long as the Evo X delivers on what makes Evo great, superior handling, excellent acceleration in a 4 door package.
If this thing can thrill me then my 550whp STI will be up for sale when the time comes.

I don't know why everyone is so concerned with the platform. The Evo has never been on a bespoke platform, it's always been shared with a lesser car. They just take the chassis, stiffen it with welds and extra pieces, and bolt on race car parts. The platform and respective cousins are not that important to the performance characteristics.

I think you're going to get a 320ish hp car... that will NOT except mods whatsoever without pulling the ECU and going to some sort of standalone EMS. I really think the new Evo's are going to made to hinder any aftermarket parts. That is the direction Mitsu is going these days.

Sadly this is accuate. Mitsu is sick of warrenty violations and getting a bad reputatio n
It's going to be interesting to read information on the finished product, and IMO it isn't all that ugly. Heck just look at what Subaru did to the 06/07 WRX's, now that's ugly, I just worry about the price tag that Mitsu is going to tack on the X. The thing that always made the EVO/STi so appealing to me is the performance/dollar ratio, I just don't see myself spending 40k+ on a car in the near future.

The ecu after a few cycles will retard timing and add fuel to zero out modifications. A good example is you can change the intake or headers and see a hp increase that day. 3 weeks later however the car would be running rich and loose the hp. Yes I know that dyno's can and will read differently on different days. But the changes to the fuel curves and timing only happen after a modification was put in.
So, I'm betting that the mod friendly evo's will disappear with the X.

Look at the IX, most people were not interested in them. There didn't seem to be changes worth switching. Now, there are peple running 11's for $1300. Let's just wait and see. I think alot of people will be changing their minds when it comes out.
Don't judge books by its cover. The X is not here yet... make a big comment when you already drive one. For me, I like it and I will give it a try when the X is here. I'm still keeping my 8. However, the X is one of the cars to think about for my next one

The current issue of Autoweek has that same shot of the yellow X on the cover. It says inside that it will go on sale here in the States in early 2008 which would make sense since it is launching in Japan in mid-2007. Looks like the dealers information has been correct for the most part. The article also says it will be available with a 6-speed clutchless automatic or 6-speed manual(hooray!) so that's some good news. The NAIS at Detroit in January will have a near-production version on display.
