02 Lancer ES Turbo Project
ok cool I think I need to reinstall the ecu scan, and download the mitsulogger within this week and invest into a tactrix cable sometime next week or so
Well today was an interesting day... I was driving to grapevine to sell the other slim fan since I heard all I need is one, and my girlfriend of course was hot from the heat in texas, I was driving back and I heard a psssss sound so I let off the gas abruptly and my car was over heating, so my girlfriend turned off the ac because it was on full blast. I accelerated from 40 to 65 and it drops back to normal temps. well when I got home I thought my remote was broken, well I looked for damage didnt see any thank god!!! and I turned on the ac to try to over heat it again to see the problem I looked at the fan and I was like wtf I checked it before I even installed it... it was pulling the air out of the engine bay lol so i just changed wires around and wallah it worked lol no more over heats I feel so stupid, make sure when your installing a slim fan from ebay since there all the same put the black with the blue wire and vise versa to make it a pusher lol what a day
ok so once again another update, My parents bank account is negative so I have to give them $112.00 so they can at least buy food and stuff. So there goes my headstud money
I just seem to have a hard time with these headstuds and its making me mad. Can I just run the stock headstuds with really low boost like around 5 psi? Im trying to get this kit installed so I can drive around with a turbo. If I kept the stock studs on whats the lowest I can boost at without anything bad happening?

Zulu has been rolling at 9 psi and as far as I know he still has his stock studs. However it is a gamble at any amount of boost because if you lift your head bye bye engine.
thanks 03lances

I know you have been running 15 for a while there are just so many people saying I need an fpr, headstuds and a fuel pump, right me intalling this kit without these three are a gamble because it could work for someone elses car and not mine. But im taking everyones answers in consideration. But Its not like im going into 10 psi off the back because I dont have a clutch yet, or a fuel pump, and headstuds but we will see and I will give everyone an update on my car in the next two weeks I just need to buy a test pipe to fit in between my down pipe and exhaust
I can't help but laugh at everyone's comments of running "stock head studs". The 4G9x engines come with bolts. Stretch to yield bolts, actually. Which means that they are pretty much single use bolts because of their tendency to stretch under stock torque during assembly.
That being said, do you need ARP headstuds on your boosted motor? Not necessarily. But they certainly provide insurance and peace of mind when boosting a Lancer at a cost less than replacing your engine.

well I found a set of used headstuds thanks to senate

hey I dont mind used at all and of course there stronger than the stock ones, like what was just said I like the insurance and peace of mind that they will be in my motor.
Also Im going to try to go turbo within 2 weeks max so proably around June 7th on a monday when Im free I will do the install I just need to get my exhaust work done and im ready to boost. All I need is my manifold which I hope will be done by the end of this month
