RRM Short Ram Intake discussion thread
to be on topic... wasn't there a post where you(rrm) were making a second version of a short ram intake??? or was i just dreaming??? second...where is the heat shield??! or is that just a lost cause?
I did some ghetto rigged testing with a machine grade heat shield ( a wrap around style like Injen sells). The temperature difference was less than a degree. So, heat shield or not, you're probably going to get the same performance.
OK, enough. This thread is about RRM's SRI (as Rob already pointed out). I know the concept of a battery movement did come up, but if you want to discuss it further, start a new thread. Let's keep this one on-topic.
We are working on a V2 intake but it is 6 months out. IT should have a shield. Also after seeing Injen version of an intake (very disappointing to look at in person) seems like people would buy anything. I honestly would not want RRM name on that thing. Closest thing I have sen to Home DEpot style in a while.

knowing how buisness goes you have to sell and buy the v2, No surprise.
and bro, first of all the 2nd half on INJEN intake is not plastic its a rubber silicon. which is part of their new MR technology. I had one in my 06 eclipse gt. and it gained me (dyno proved) 15whp! vs my friends aem one on he let me trythat gave me 9whp and a test fujita that gave me 10whp. I have full confidence with Injen thats why they have been in the game so long.
I have the RRM intake, and it still uses the ****ty rubber stock hose instead of making it fullly aluminum and get rid of that rubber part.
* This is not a bash just facts*

Stock intake on an '06 Eclipse is rather restrictive...any CAI you put on it would've netted you respectable gains. So your dyno is essentially a testament to how restrictive
made their intake...not a testament to the god like ingenuity of Injen or any other company...a decent home-made intake would've gotten you numbers in the same ballpark too.
Also, every hose on every car is rubber silicon (even the stock hose on the Lancer's air intake)...it's not new technology...it's been around for many years. It's cheap, durable, and easy to make & work with....it's used everywhere from car parts to joint replacements:

Injen (I'm not saying they make bad products) is more hype and marketing than anything. Your post about their "MR technology" just goes to show how easy it is to fall for what are no than more buzz words...it's a metal tube & rubber for god's sake. Maybe if Injen wants to get fancy, they'll throw some Teflon in the mix too.
Dump on RRM all you want, but at least Rob and the other guys don't come here and blow smoke and buzz words around...that's one of the reasons they get as much respect as they do.

Your making me out like i praise INJEN, im not but i have trust with them rather then anything else, i have a injen intake in my mothers altima which was mine at 1 point and no problems no where, then my eclipse. I tried RRM with the lancer and it was a dissapointment to me. So Again i will be gettting the injen as soon as its released to the market.
Also your saying they don't buzz words around im sorry rob is a good guy and he is trying to make us products but wth man he is bashing on other companies as well and that to me makes me loose their respect and trust for their products. Calling another company intake saying its **** from homedepot, please that made me laugh look at the intake we all bought from them. its a simple pipe with a maf adapter on it??? No science behind that.
Like i said before This is not bashing, im stating my opinon.
also evo i am now looking tru my pics for my dyno sheets. even tho it don't matter cause people will just prove them wrong with their bs
