Focus RS
Basically just very obvious its build from a street car to be performance car, vs the STI or Evo which is the quite opposite.
I would DD a nicely build R though
(manual only)
Both the Lancer and Impreza are developed first, then the STI and Evo. Economy car to performance car. Same thing.
I feel like people put the Evo and STI so high on a pedestal and forget about their economy car roots.
Yes both has a base siblings, Subaru and Mitsubishi did picked a base very common cheap car, and turned into a race ready car in factory. Very common in EU this method. But the R and the STI or EVO was build for a completely different reason.
Also they are build to be eventually a race car vs the R which build to be a street performance car, that is what I am saying. And that is a night and day difference at the end product.
Nothing proves it more when you drive around them in the first corner. Or sitting in the VW and feel the more daily drive oriented set up and comfort etc.
That's what I have to say again this subject once for all. Specially since there is no more evo anyway
lol, been through this. People putting them up that high, because they truly belong there, if you do fully understand what they are.

With your logic, the consumer VW Polo and Ford Fiesta where built to become race cars too, but hey, we all know this thread doesn't actually contain logic.
I wonder who will end up being the go to for aftermarket parts for the RS. A lot of former decdicated evo shops have long since switched to focusing on the GTR and a 4 banger turbo seems like it would be going backwards. Cobb Tuning? And by parts I mean the whole boat - turbo, drivtrain upgrades, etc.
This isn't 2001 anymore. All three of those cars in their last iteration where built from economy cars to be performance cars. They didn't build them to be race cars. Do they have that past? Yes.

Usual respond from you.

dont put words in my mouth on your on convenience. They are absolutely not build the way i was reffering on the Evo or the STI. Of course you can build race car from ANYTHING, that wasnt a point ever as far as remember in the evom history. The difference is how they came out from factory.

I don't think you will have to worry about options. There is huge aftermarket support for the Focus ST, Fiesta ST, etc etc
The biggest hurdle is going to be the DI fuel system when going for a bit more power, espically with Ethanol mixes.
The good news is the ECU in the ecoboosts are AWESOME. Bosch MED ecu, same as VW uses and they are state of the art compared to the Mitsubishi ECUs. I speak from experience tuning my Fiesta.
