Are you kidding? Pretty much every inline 4 cylinder engine in the world uses a flat plane crank.

Would it even be possible to build a cross plane I4? You'd have a really odd firing pattern (90/270/270/90 degrees on firing).

The same engine has a 6600 RPM limit in the Mustang. Might get a little more in the Focus RS, but I would not expect more than 6700-6800.

I think the Yamaha R1 of a few years ago had a cross plane I4, don't know if it still does

That's still a flat crank...

You would build the crank to fire 0-90-180-270-360. It could very easily be done.

The R1 would be another way to do it. 0-90-90-0

I was talking about the timing of a firing relative to the crank... basically you'd have a couple huge gaps rather than a firing every 180 degrees.

But yeah, I'm not sure how you'd describe that mathematically.

I went on a ride along in a Fiesta ST with the Recaro's at a track day last friday, I love those seats! To date, its definitely the best seat I've sat in. They're conformable with huge bolsters, hold you in place with no issue on the track. and for the record, I also went for a ride along in a 997 GT3 and honestly I like the Fiesta's seats better. Then I had to go back to my RSX with my stupid Buddy club seat... I gotta figure out a way to get a Fiesta seat in there

So if the standard RS seats are the Fiesta Recaro's, I really don't see a reason to pay the huge premium for the "nice" RS Recaro's

Recaro is about to release the new RECARO Sport Seat Platform (RSSP). It has a backbone made of carbon, and will be available in a variety of styles, including a “Sport Extreme” for super sports cars and “Comfort” for series and GT vehicles.

It will be on display at IAA 2015 in Frankfurt next week. http://www.club.recaro-automotive.com/blog-en/

A cutaway pic of it can be seen here http://www.club.recaro-automotive.co...ro-in-detroit/

I suspect the RSSP will be surprisingly affordable since they are getting a lot of OEM placement. To me the quality of the seat makes or breaks the driving experience.

I guess its all relative to how much you want to spend. There are always Recardos on Ebay

don't get me wrong, I love a good seat, but OEM placement Recaro means quite the opposite of affordable... you're looking at 3-4k min, prolly more. and I paid 4k for my car

i wish i could find it, but i think that's right about where most of us guessed. plus $4-6 in dealer markup. puts it right around $36-38k which is also where we predicted. what did we win??
doesn't 4.7 0-60 seem kinda sucky for a car with launch control? the '05 Evo did that without all the fancy nannies.
