Sorry if it wasn't clear but I was talking open or closed deck.
Sounds like an open deck with a dovetail is the way to go. Easier loading, lighter, and allows for car maintenance. I guess Ill work out anything else I wanna haul when the time comes.
To entertain the enclosed trailer, I understand the convenience of having a place to safely store your things and having a safe-haven for bad weather, that's why I bought an SUV actually. I don't understand why an SUV can't tow enclosed. Is it wind? I would imagine a suburban/expedition would adequate to tow enclosed. (Sorry if that's already been covered).
Thanks for the input guys! I was contemplating a 16' with a tire rack, so to hear that you guys are using 16' and 15' trailers without issues is reassuring.

suv dont have long enough wheelbase for the heavy towing capacity required or enclosed trailer. it wouldn't be safe. trucks have longer wheelbase and more stable.
im short enough that i can sleep in the back of my 4 runner with the back seat folded down flat

Yeah I've considered sleeping in the back of the SUV, Im 5'10" might be tight!
Maybe you could get away with a suburban type vehicle for towing a big trailer, but certainly not as equipped as a HD truck.
It's also in the little details. HD brakes, HD axels, HD transmission, HD cooling, E-load tires, and so on. While the 3/4 suburban's were nice, we'd need GM to start making them again in HD mode with a freakin duramax this time. That would be a win.
Pick this up in December. Tows the Evo just fine. Trailer is an 18ft deck including the 2ft dove. I have to jack up the front of trailer, and use wood planks to extend the ramps to get the car on/off without scraping the bumper.
My boss lets me use his trailer. Thank God, because driving a car full of fuel cans to the track is not fun. Especially while driving 300mi on my race tires. LOL
Tow vehicle is another loaner: 2005 Tahoe LTZ. Very comfy.
I still use my single place open trailer with my 05 Tahoe when its just one car needing tow, but to help reduce travel expense, I bought a 2 place open trailer and now can split fuel and the drive with a buddy. Few years it'll pay for itself.

That's a great setup. Would love do something like that if I could afford a diesel truck. Unfortunately, everything that's comparable to my F150 is $10k-$15k more...
I'm looking at adding some power to my enclosed but debating on all the options, likely going the Yamaha route with some kind of custom box/fuel tank thing. Power is getting more and more rare at tracks these days and i'm becoming more and more dependent on it.
