and a n00b quest, why are in evo 9 edm stock rom 3 high and low octane timing map ? I did a log and seems like using only one how it should. also in tehpra v7 edm rom has only 1 timing map.

Your timing looks pretty good. It can use a little smoothing here and there, but over all....you are doung well.

What about your AFR?

As for the question about 3 timing maps...They were discoverd to basically be the same thing just called for by different parameters (if my memory suits me well). Thus, all are usually made to be the same. V7 eliminated this by making the maps the same in the background (saves some work). At least I believe that is what is was all about.

Its been a while but I can't remember if the 3 maps had anything to do with the three ACD settings (gravel,Tarmac, snow). I could be 200% wrong though lol, it's been a while since we didn't have tephra mods haha.

man your timing at spool up is really low (atleast compared to mine), maybe you can add abit to improve midrange torque alittle... then again im trying to reduce mine as i get some knock in the mids

ill post my revised timing chart when i go home

Isn't #1 for warmup, #2 main map and #3 for a fault?

Quote from Merlin's tuning guide:

The Evo7 and Evo8 have one high octane ignition map while the Evo9 has 4 high octane ignition maps. Map #1 is used when the engine temperature is below 149ºF. Map #2 is used as the normal ignition map engine warmed-up and no fault conditions. Map #3 is used in the event of a major sensor fault for example a MAF failure. Map #4 has more cruise timing and a block or retarded timing, its use is currently unknown.

On Evo 9s, the three maps are related to whether MIVEC angle is steady, increasing, or decreasing.

thank you ! Afr : 12.7-12.5 spool up, 11.7-11.6 @ peak than slowly tapper to 10.9-11 until 7000rpm.

Okay, so by the V7 tuning an Evo 9 only by 1 timing map is much simple

On 100 octane fuel you have a little room to go a little bit leaner up top. Try to hold mid 11s from peak load to top rpm.

To gain a little low end torque, richen the mixture a little bit more from just after about 5-7psi boost until peak load. (like 11.3 or so). The added fuel gives a little longer and cooler burn that helps torque.

Back on topic TIMING....cough, cough.

I would think that it could take some more timing from about >6000rpm. What size jets are you using?

Yes more timing and maybe more boost or just more boost maybe. What octane fuel?

tephra v7, ix turbo, hks 280 cams. pte 1200cc, full exh. fp intake pipe, ams balance shaft delete, muse uicp, xs pwr fmic, xspwr licp grimmspeed 3 port 93 oct gas
If I try to do a log starting from 2500 rpm or even 3000 rpm I get knock right away cant figure it out. AFR is around 11.7 tapering to 11.3.
p.s. this is not a english racing tune. getting a english racing tune if I can not figure out knock by myself.
