If you are truly a Daily Driver without tracking or spirited driving, LOL... that may be about 1/10 of a percent of EVO Owners or less, use the MTF...

Yeah once it gets to the operating temps, it feels great through all the gears . Maybe it's because of the cooler weather lately in FL, it'll probably get better as I drive more miles on MTG and as the weather gets scorching hot during the summer .

Yep, remember, everything, engine, trans, TC, Diffs.. all need to be brought up to operating temps before it is used hard or you can expect problems....

Synthetics will give you as much of both worlds as possible...

I have read 11 pages out of 20 just to make sure this was not mentioned yet but here it is.I am a certified Toyota tech with at least 20 years experience,I have worked on a lot of different cars. The only transmissions I have rebuilt are all Toyota units.About 10 years ago my niece destroyed the clutch in her Corolla gts driving home from college(2 hours). To make a long story short she was shifting without a clutch, the car was grinding in 3rd and 4th gears really bad.Well this pretty much says it needs new synchro's at the very least. She had no money for parts.I drain the fluid and put Redline MTL after driving 20 miles to allow the fluid to completely circulate the grinding is gone.I have used the Redline MTL ever since anytime a car or truck starts wearing out synchros and it has worked 100% of the time.I have never used it on a Evo so i'm not sure if its allowed.I would contact Redline and see what they can suggest.I hope this helps,I may be shopping for a Evo 10 this weekend.

Redline is not the worst fluid by far.. many people use it... There are just better products on the market..

Redline gear lube does not pass ASTM Tests.

Amsoil, of course. I have run both redline and amsoil products in my cars over the past few years, and amsoil is superior IMO. I currently run the SSO 0W-30 motor oil in my X, and it's a fantastic oil. In torture tests, it produced the smallest wear scars of all oils tested, beating out big names like mobil one and redline.

Absolutely.....

A little information here.... AMSOIL is not so little.... AMSOIL is the largest manufacturer of Synthetic MotorCycle oil in the world and is number 2 in sales behind Mobil 1 for Automotive and knocking on Mobile's back door. AMSOIL has experienced double digit growth for the past 18 years including this past year where the Media Morons try to paint such a dark dismall time for our economy.

AMSOIL purchases more PAO Base Stock than even Mobil 1... Now, If a number 2 company, purchases more Base Stock than number 1 company from the same supplier, who do you think is "more" synthetic ? They sure don't dump it on the ground.

Some of AMSOIL's suppliers would get upset when AMSOIL would refuse a batch of products as every barrel, Semi Tanker and rail car are tested for quality before they are allowed to unload. Those barrels tankers and rail cars sure didn't get dumped into Lake Superior, they were sold to other companies that don't care as much..

Just walk in with 3 qts of AMSOIL MTG and ask them to change it for you to see if it helps..

They may give you some static about "Warranty" which is a bunch of BS... Just ask them if they have heard of the Federal Law, "The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" which forbids them to deny warranty..

If your car requires the "GL-3" Spec, you would have to use the MTF if the Dealer does it to meet their warranty requirements..

Just work the gearbox and it will get smoother. I'm at about 5k miles and it's much better now. My gearbox used to be very stiff and I'd "crunch" it going to 2nd or 3rd all the time. The grinding has gone and it's just a little notchy now.

My friend's X has even less miles than me (about 4k) and his gearbox is like butter. But here's the deal - he drives the car hard all the time. He averages around 11-13 mpg in the city. He's literally flooring the car ALL the time. I drove his car when he got it new and it was just as bad as mine. When I recently took it out, I was shocked how smooth it was. Time for me to drive like a lunatic!
