While towing, I typically average 20-21 mpg (typically towing at 60-62mph, CA speed limits for towing are 55mph) - my trailer + Evo weigh somewhere between 5k - 5.5k lbs.
christ I've shut off our duramax with 14k in tow haha.
We are seeing 10-12 towing 20+ stag. 2018 l5p quad cab.

We were definitely lucky to not get hurt.
Yea ive heard that the ford frames are really weak and a slight bump and it bends them then its throw the whole lot in the crusher.

Not sure if this is sarcasm but the only guys who bend raptor frames are the guys doing 10+ feet vertical jumps on stock bump stops. It'd bend the frame of any other truck too. There is a huge stigma with these trucks that you can jump as high and far as you desire without consequence as it comes from the factory because it's an "off road oriented" truck. TRXs get the same wrap, plenty of owners have bent those frames in the 2 years they've been out too.

The suspension on a legitimate trophy truck or baja race truck is considerably more beefy and complex than anything found on any factory truck. It'd be equivalent to buying a stock WRX and thinking that you can send it off long jumps on a rally stage and not damage anything. We all know how absurd that is but that's the general public's impression of these trucks.

Are you thinking of Ranger and not F150? We dont get the Ranger Raptor here.

Ive never heard of the F150 having a weak frame from a work and towing perspective though.

I like the new Tundra a lot, and have been waiting forever for Toyota to update the Tundra, but in this market it will probably either be unavailable for the next year or sold at a mark-up.

If I was in the market for a hybrid, or even any other truck than what I've got now I'd be getting an F150 powerboost. They have a 7200W invertor, there's pretty much nothing that you can't power with that truck. I don't understand why other manufacturers aren't following suit...

oh yea i wouldn't be buying new or even used for probably a decade haha, that's just how i buy cars.

the invertor on the f510 is KILLER for anyone who works with the truck but thankfully that isn't me, and i just prefer toyota and apparently the hybrid on the tundra is way smoother. would love that kind of power though, maybe they will update it in the future.

only thing i'm sad about is losing flex fuel. i got some bad e85 race weekend prior to last and i just dumped it all in the sequoia lol

Flex fuel is a huge plus for sure. It's always bummed me that tons of F150s are flex fuel capable but they never offered it on raptors...

None of the performace vehicles are flex fuel. It's in the ecu to put in a sensor and do it up with a toon though.

I have hounded COBB and HPT to integrate in some flex fuel capability for tuning. COBB had no interest (par for the course), and HPT said adding in extra code for it would be too hard. I know there is coding that exists for flex fuel because I literally worked on the calibration development for these engines while I was at Ford but from what I remember it was heavily fuel trim based so I'm not sure if there's coding already there to support an ethanol content sensor. Though I don't think it'd be too hard to do what COBB does with Subarus and utilize and unused 5V ref to log the sensor and then just add in a couple tables for flex fuel capability.

So, flew this weekend up to PA to pickup one of the new 2021 Yukon Denali Duramax's at auction because the transportation crisis is just nuts at the moment. Truck sat there for 3 weeks, 15, yes one five miles on it. Man all I can say is wow to the new 3.0L duramax. AVERAGED 33mpg driving back to Atlanta in a flying brick. I think they finally got their sh*t together on the emissions and the MPG's are back to "normal". The suspension was like a cloud, accel was instant, shifting was completely un-noticeable, 10" screen is awesome. Took me some time to get used to "push button gears". It DOES have the annoying stop start but there's a couple ways around that - the jury is still out on harm it does to a diesel but I think this new generation is setup for that.

Hooked up the big enclosed when I got home just to see, empty it weighs 6900 and change. Auto leveling came on right away. There was some slight sway at 75mph and no weight but accel and braking are a dream. This has finally bridged the gap I think for the open trailer haulers. Selling of course for profit but it was a fun little vaca.

I think the 3.0 diesels are really amazing and hope they take off.

I kept quiet about it but I recently got myself a 2018 F-150 Power Stroke 3.0 and I absolutely love it. Huge step up from my 03 5.3 Silverado gasser. Highway MPG's is amazing and city driving is much better than my Silverado's highway MPG lol. Already towed with it quite a few times and pulls great. I am really anxious to see how it does in the West Virginian mountains when I take her to the DSM/Evo Shootout next year. My Silverado struggled so bad up those hills with temps getting quite hot.

When Ford killed off the 3.0 Power Stroke, that was my cue to go in there and grab one while I could. I got mine for a great deal as it needed some TLC. Such a shame Ford killed them off because it really is an awesome platform. I get that they wanted to push more on the Power Boost though.
