GEICO does have a mechanical breakdown endorsement on their policies. BUT--don't take what the "working through college" girl is telling you. Most of the GEICO reps don't even understand the policies well enough to give you hypothetical scenario answers. In fact--she isn't supposed to be giving you answers to what if questions like that because it's not her that makes the decision to cover a loss, it's the claims dept. That goes with any insurance company.

The mechanical breakdown clause is only good when THEY say it is, if they feel there was any negligence in the matter--sorry--no coverage. That's only some of the fine print. Think about things logically here...

That makes more sense.

On top of that, if you were to have claim to try and cover mods, they would jack up your rates, or more than likely just drop you all together.

Insurance companies are in the business of collecting monthly payments. Not paying out claims. Insurance companies ARE NOT your friends, as much as they would like you to believe that.

Some dealers are cool. I just bought 2006 IX and traded in my 05 VIII which was heavily modded and dealer didn't have any problems with it. Even I had a week to take all my aftermarket parts off my old car and put stock parts back on.
Just don't be an a-hole with them. I used to do lots of wierd stuff on my old car and never had any problems.

+1
I almost switched from USAA to Geico for the tab bit lower rates and the warranty. However, the young Geico rep didn't know what he was talking about on my situation (non warranty related). Basically, they gave me the damn run around, causing me time and $$. If their reps can give false/inaccurate information on car insurance, which is their specialty...imagine on the accuracy of the warranty information they tried to sell!

They can't woid your warranty like this. Take a Lawyer and go back with them because that is BC. It is up to Mitsu REP what they doing. Yours REP was just an as*&^le. Same like they can't do that because of aftermarket parts.

Come back to us when you have some real experience and know what you're talking about. It's a very long thread, so I'm sure you've never bothered to read through the specifics.

They say that but when it comes time to settle a total loss, don't expect to get paid. I gave my USAA adjuster 15k in receipts (oldest was 11 months old) and got $4,800.

I'll never mod another car without a stated value policy and USAA doesn't offer them either. Just FYI I called USAA and tried to get a SV policy and they said they didn't offer them but made the exact same statement in bold above.

HAD warranty work done?? Chime in..

Hey guys, long time no post... Some of you may remember my situation last year when my motor blew at 15,000 miles and Mitsubishi denied warranty coverage without even giving the car an evaluation, when I aledgedly had minimal mods such as intake/TBE/MBC/flash. Well, I have an arbitration hearing on April 3 with NCDS and I'm looking for any info I can get...

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone that has had warranty work done with a similar array of modifications would mind giving me some info. I'm only looking to add to my report if Mitsubishi has ever completed warranty work WHILE knowing about mods to the vehicle in question. I'm not looking to sell anyone out, just checking to see if anyone has a situation that *should* have set a precedent for similar cases like mine... Anyway, post in here, or hit me up on the PM.. Any info would be great..

For reference, here are my old threads I posted last year..

Let me know if anyone can help

You got the wing warrantied while they knew about those modifications? If that's the case, even stuff like that can help me because it shows they did some level of warranty work, AFTER obviously reaching the decision that your modifications did not cause the problem. That's what I'm trying to prove, Mitsubishi will take some situations into account and not others. Just because my case was larger scale and more closesly related to possible modifications doesnt mean that they shouldn't have to evaluate my situation before they make anyt decisions.
