i dont think the evo will be that high unless its a fully loaded model. a base evo x should be in the 30-34k area.

agreed on the skyline marketing, they have their sights higher.

It's impossible. I'll believe my Mitsu DPSM rep before some news site. What's impossible is the time it'll take to retool the production line then start making cars. There is no way they can make the car that soon. Early 08 fellas. Thats right from Mitsu's mouth. I work for them.

Of course the X will be faster!! Who says it will be "lacking power," wtf? It will have 300+ hp which is, last time I checked, more than the IX. The typical trend with technology being the way that it is, is that there is more weight being added to the car due to stricter DOT laws. One that comes to mind is the mandatory option for side air bags on all car models in '07. As laws get more strict, the weight of a vehicle increases so manufacturers need to add more power to make up for the loss of the power to weight ratio or trim body fat by using more aluminum, carbon fiber, or a synthetic blend of such materials.

In any case, the X will be a great car and an awesome addition to the mitsu lineup. In terms of the engine, we have yet to see what it is and what it can do. It will still be years after the release of the car before we see any sort of significant mods done to these cars. Even the IX still has a couple things that still are in development (intake cam comes to mind).

my guess, which is just speculation, is that the mpg will be about the same or possibly a little better than the current evo IX. this is based on the fact that it will be a direct injection engine which tend to get a little better milage due to the fact that they are more resistent to kocking which in turn allows for leaner tuning.

In the SCC interview with Dr. Evo. They said that Mitsu is really trying to push their technology with the S-AWC. It's not finished yet, but the good news is that Mitsu isn't just sitting around congratulating themselves for creating such a great IX, they are pushing the envelope to make it better... and that fact alone makes me a believer in the X. I just hope that it doesn't come out with many bugs from the start... cause I'm gonna have to get one right away! I'm also interested to see how the STI will change to compete... I bet they will introduce the next STI within a month of the EVO X debut... just like they did with the VIII American Debut. As long as these two companies just keep pushing each other, who knows how far they will take it!

Same here, I agree on the Jepanese work ethic. They put 110% in their work. They feel honored to do the job nomatter how small, easy or difficult it is. When we went last year to Tokyo I personally experienced this. From the guy who took care of my luggage expecting no tip to the guy that stopped traffic to help me drive out of the gasoline station to the street. Even at KFC in shinjuku when we bought a kiddie meal for my daughter the attendant offerred my 5 year old daughter some goodies then bowed in front of her. So much for that I think any high performance Japanese car should be manufactured in Japan (Evo, Supra, RX8.....etc). I'm sure american factories and plans have the capacity to make reliable cars but it always boils down to work ethic and Quality control.

When the Evolution IX came out, did the MR version come out along with the other models?

And when the Evolution X comes out, will it have a "MR" edition, or will it just have base models?
