well yeah all is true.... im gonna end up keeping my IX no matter what thats for sure, but getting a X for DD purposes and feeling it out while others try to mod it straight from the lot is a bg difference in my OP./ the plan is not to mod it if you are gonna buy it when it releases or soon after. just feel it out and see whats going on with them worldwide. you could always trade in. i just need another car to drive since i plan on makin the IX a track car.
i think though most will be pleased with the X. as someone said above it wont have too much of a straight up rally kind of look. more conservative but stern as hell in the process.
and cant wait to see those pics from detroit!!

Just so you know the automotive press don't agree with your statement and it doesn't hold water.
The 9 i steh best Evo of all time adn teh enginners took out all the stops for the final year of the body style.
Not knocking 8 or previous rendering and actually pay homage to them butlet the truth b etold.
I have no doubt that the X will be immensly better. I will be picking one up as soon as it comes out regardless of the first year model risk.

Thanks for the post Mr. Mitsu.
"The Lancer Evolution -- called “Evo” for short -- is extremely popular with the young, compact tuner audience."
Oi..this is the reason for the LEO profiling.

i'm sorry but the X is ugly, what are ther trying to do? copy the celica? where is the tradition of the EVOs? the hood, spoiler, and body kits? i'm a mitsubishi fan but this time they try to modernize the EVO and they have gone way over board.

well ill be simple with this one. but my buddy has a VIII 04 and i of course have the IX. with just the flash, exhaust and drop in i got in the mid 12 sec range on the 1/4. my buddy who has the VIII with cams, pump, FMIC, injectors, O2, 10.5, and other things as well just to name a few was hitting high 12's to low 13's. to me that was a feat all in itself. oh and by the way, stock clutch for me and upgraded (i think twin exedy) for him..........so obviously it makes a difference............
p.s. this was all on pump gas as well, could also be a driver mod to though.........lol

Its all about waiting and seeing. We don't even know what the X looks like let alone how it is on performance and reliability.
Between the 2.... you have the IX which is the pinnacle of Mitsu engineering for this platform. It is vastly well known, has a massive aftermarket following, and a very large user base and community around it. The X has none of the above. Again, we wait and see how it does. Let the community learn it inside and out and see what its really capable of along with letting the aftermarket for it develop..... and then make the decision.
Regarding hype..... sure there is hype around the X, but hype does not translate to performance numbers or reliability etc. I certainly don't think Mitsu will kill the hype. The Evo is their premeir performance car. I personally don't think they killed it with the new Eclipse either. I think the new Eclipse is exactly what Mitsu wanted it to be. And regardless of enthusiasts making the older ones fast.....a performance car it is not, nor was it ever intended to be. Thats what the Evo is for.
