I don't think the resale will be bad. But the car isn't being marketed correctly for sure.

IMO, the evo was special because it did not sacrifice performance for those things. There are plenty of cars that fit in the couch on wheels category.

I'd assume you could say the same about a Mits Lancer

The rarity of the vehicle will not hurt its resale, I'd imagine it will take 2-3 years before you start seeing a bunch of them and by then some other trim will come out.

We'll have to wait and see what 5-8 years may bring.

The 3rd gen Focus is getting near the end of its lifespan. It been around since 2010 and will likely be do for a refresh in 2018. Hopefully, Ford does a limited run (think RS500) of the new RS near the end of the 3rd gen's production run.

I think the new Civic is going to cut deeply into standard Focus sales and will likely make the 3rd gen Focus look a bit dated.

They sell for significantly less than MSRP. I was kicking tires at two different ford dealerships and both told me they could get me into a loaded FoST for the same prices we were talking about for a not so loaded FiST with just recaros....

Ford makes a lot of FoSTs - arguably too many. Some of the dealers around me have a dozen STs on their lot.

Doesn't sound like the RS is going to be a big run. It'll more likely end up like the VIII/IX, FD RX7, Supra TT, etc...

i've been thinking a lot lately about a Focus ST as a daily driver. it may be a good time to strike, once the RS is released.

^^ you and me both. I'm torn between it and a BRZ..

Which sounds crazy but I like them both for different reasons. The ST because hatch, more room, 4 friends can enjoy boost craziness... but FWD suuuuuuuucks.

BRZ, useable back seat for storage but not much else (big step up from my current DD miata though) it's RWD, I'd probably throw a supercharger on it to get it up to the 250 whp mark, put a good set of struts and springs, wheels and tires and enjoy the crap out of it.. but only has 2 doors and can't pack things around like the ST... I kind of use the evo for that now which I want to get out of doing...

i'm okay with FWD for a daily. my current one is.. just way less fun LOL. then again, i used to drag race then later HPDE FF cars, so i kinda have a soft spot for them.
especially a turbo-charged hatchback version.
i know a few people that drive the BRZ/FRS. it's okay, but if i were going that route i'd get an S2000.

Perhaps, there is no car like the RS on the market right now and that includes the STi. Resell value of Fords in general is usually garbage, the again, the RS is a different beast.

Still, I won't buy one and hope to retain it's value like the STi or Evo.

some of the SVT stuff doesn't do too bad I.E. the '03-04 Cobra and newer GT500s, etc. the RS may do okay, too.

Golf R is not that far from an RS to me. Lighter, prettier, very similar (although slightly lesser) AWD system, and similar suspension setup.

I'd just turbo or s/c the miata if I were going to get an S. I would feel bad driving an s2000 every day messing it up in the snow and stuff.. really just want a good lightweight, tossable RWD coupe... I really miss my 97 240sx but good luck finding one of those for a reasonable price not beat the **** out of. BRZ is the next best thing all things considered.

*edit* I take that back, I also looked into the genesis coupes. Yes, heavier, but the V6s sound freaking awesome. The only thing is I like the first gens better than the 2nd gens but would want the power of the 2g.. I'm hard to please.. lol

i like the Genesis. i thought about the turbo version for a bit.
