What do you guys think?
I had high hope for the car, but now it seems like a down grade to me. I may still consider it, but keep it stock.
The AWD system seems to have system longitivy and environment friendly on top of the priorities.
I suggest doing more research on Haldex systems.

If the awd system performs and proves reliable do you really care that its not a purely "mechanical" diff?

To me it sounds a lot like the systems in the WRC before the rules outlawed them. https://www.highpowermedia.com/blog/...-differentials

How does the car handles launch from a stop then?
It seems to be the AWD mode is only engaged if there is steering input(wheels aren't straight) or if there is a slippage.
What if I am just launching from a stop? does it have any mechanism to make the rear also move from a stop?

Did some reading.
But I still don't quite get it. So far, I still wonder, isn't Haldex just a "Fake" AWD system?
It could be that English is my second language, so it is a little hard to understand many terms and what they do exactly.
Will do some more reading.

If you mean fake like, not all time AWD then yes, its fake, like most all vw/audi systems.

There is an excellent video (if I could find it) of an R32 launching in gravel showing when the system slips it grips
However, keep in mind it can be tuned.

Only the VAG cars that use the haldex tranverse engine AWD systems are that way. The cars that have a longitudinal mounted engine (A4 and up) use a full time AWD system.

Exactly.

Golf R, Audi A3, Audi S3, Audi TT, Audi TTS, Audi TTRS. Basically everything based on the Golf chassis is haldex. Audi A4+ is permanent AWD Quattro.

Also one thing to note. When I owned my MK6 Golf R, I could not ever tell it wasn't AWD. The newer haldex systems and software updates are really great. It's pretty seamless.

You sold the Evo 8? I guess that means you're getting funds read for a FoRS?

They do drive really well. The one I drove was able to power out of corners very well. However its wasn't very tail happy like the Evo, and with the inability to fully defeat the ESC in the MK6, when you did manage to get it sh!tty, the computer quickly corrected the shenanigans

You can defeat it. It was the first mod I did and it didn't even require a ECU reflash.

Please explain. I know the APR trick where you change a line of code with VAG-Com, but I read that it messes with other stuff in the AWD system since it disable the steering angle sensor, or something like that..

Yes VAG-COM bit change. The first "hack" did what you are talking about. Then somebody found the Euro bit and changed it to that, then it was like Euro cars, magically had the ability to turn everything fully off.

Worked like a charm.

MK7 is full defeatable from the factory in the USA.

whats the mod exactly and how does the dealer look at it in terms of warranty?

edit: then again, warranty is done or almost done for the MK6 anyway...
